...and sitting strapped to a chair inches away from all the hundreds of noisy neighbours, with all their noisy children.... ...!

Sounds like an expensive nightmare to me!.... .....!

Paul....In a house with double-glazing and sound proofed walls!.... ;) ...!

I would check the veracity (and current state) of the Airline, before I would even step one foot across the threshold... especially given AI's recent 'endeavors'.

I completely agree! If I spend 18 hours on a plane, I would like to know that the plane is going to last the duration of the flight... but imagine that... 18 hours

Back in the 90's I flew from Frankfurt to San Francisco none stop a couple of times. It was 14 hours. Fortunately it was at the time when proper inflight entertainment was just starting and the seat back system was being introduced. To be honest, I had no problem. I was entertained, fed and watered (read alcoholed..). Every now and then I would walk the cabin to stretch my legs and move the blood about my body. So 14 hours or 18 hours, I can't really see any difference.
