The Beautiful Fukang Meteorite

"The Fukang meteorite, believed to be some 4.5 billion years old, which is as ancient as Earth itself, was unearthed near a town of the same name in China, in 2000."

Fascinating but they could have come up with a better English translation.

Sorry, Jim. I couldn't help myself.

I bet was translated by a thirteen year old boy.

Besides, when you read it did you read it as Fu Kang Or Fu**ing.

And "What’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Right?

Well......

Names that are perfectly all right in one language, may not smell so sweet in another language.

Take the Mitsubishi Pajero. It didn't sell so well in Spain.

We in the US use a single word, where the Urban Dictionary defines the Spanish slang as "He who fiddles with himself for......"

Lets just leave it at "It didn't sell so well in Spain."

.... ... ... ...!

I love reading about this stuff in the Media.... ...!

It reminds me of the wise old old Fozzer saying; .....

...."You can fool most of the fukang people, most of the fukang time"

..... ....!

It also reminds me of the origin of the name of the island of Phuket, in the peninsular of Malaysia.
During the first Tsunami flood that devastated the island many Centuries ago.
A visiting explorer was heard to say, at the time;....

Phuket!.....I wasn't expecting that!"

That's how the island got its name...

...probably...

Some time ago I found a piece of Meteorite very similar to the Fukang Meteorite at the bottom of my garden.
I took it over to the University of California for them to identify during one of my Cessna 150 flights over the San Francisco Bay.
It turned out to be it was a piece of 4.5 billion-year-old fossilised Cat crap.

So there you go...

...things are not always what they seem to be.... ;) ....!

Paul.... .... ... ...!

Next week:
The details of the physical properties of the Cow that jumped over the Moon.
(University of California).

"Has anyone seen the Fukang Meteorite?"

...Nah!...I must have blinked...and missed it!

You found a "Coprolite" at the bottom of your garden? You didn't step in it did you Paul? I just love how we come up with scientific names for obvious items such as fossilized cat shit. "No,no Sir, That's not cat shit that's a Coprolite you stepped in." Can you imagine spending thousands of dollars to finance an expedition to some not yet discovered ancient habitat and the head of your expedition reports back with "It's confirmed boss. We have proof this area was inhabited - we found their Coprolites!" :o

OAM's thread heading is driving me crazy!

"Has anyone seen the Fukang Meteorite?"

I have now become addicted to going out into my back garden as soon as it gets dark every night and gazing up into the night sky.

And after an hour of standing outside in the freezing cold, I start to realise...

....that I still haven't seen that F****g Meteorite!... .... ....!

Will it never appear?... :x ...!

Paul... ... ... ...!

You will never see it.

Meteorite is defined as something that has already hit the ground.

But suppose, just suppose mind you, that his neighbor found a meteorite.

And suppose that his neighbor used a catapult to launch said meteorite over Paul's fence. Say at a cat.

THEN Paul might see a meteorite sailing through the night sky.

And if said cat prayed to Mafdet, then said meteorite might hit Paul on the head.

And all the cats in the neighborhood would rejoice.

I fear that my/our disbelief in anything boringly scientific, is leaving Jim in a state of "Catatonia"!.... ....!

(The State of Catatonia is the 51st State in the USA).....perhaps...
