Out of the kindness of their hearts the police of Leicestershire are making it easier for the more deserving thieves to ply their trade uninterrupted.

But it's only for half the homes there.

Leicestershire Police did not fully investigate attempted break-ins at houses with odd numbers as part of an experiment to save money.

‘At a time when we are operating within reduced budgets, it is even more critical that we make the absolute best use of our crime scene investigators’ time.’

I suppose it all depends on how you view the word "critical". It might depend on your being odd, or even.

That anyone older than the youngest of children should think that this experiment was a good idea....



It's no wonder that so many are trying to "immigrate" to the UK.

Heck, you can't even get a glass beer mug to protect yourself with.



Perhaps I should visit merry old England for a fortnight. Just an antiques shopping trip mind you.

All the gun activity on both sides really scares me, and spoils the thought of holidaying in the USA!!

I pick up this sort of activity every day in my US News Broadcasts around the various States!

Lots of very angry, out-of-control people, high on drugs and booze..... ....

The man is a total loon. We have entirely too many people like this.

The cop is playing into the loons paranoia, and is driving the confrontation to a near boiling point.

The one thing that we don't know, is why the cop is acting the way that he is. I suspect that there is some missing info here.



What this has to do with my post, I don't know.

From my far away viewpoint it seems that the UK has large numbers of illegals coming into the country, crime is rising, and budgets are being stretched to the breaking point in all areas.

Stretching so badly that the police are experimenting with selective inaction to reported crime in the most arbitrary way possible - BY STREET NUMBER!


And the fact that they attempt to justify it by stating that they don't catch many of the people breaking in, is ludicrous.

If thieves know that the police will not take action in certain types of crime, or in certain areas, guess what - - that type of crime will increase.



I don't know about crime in the UK, but here in the US we do have people specializing in crimes against the elderly.

How would you handle a young intruder when you know that the police may never arrive?

In some surgeries, nurses are cold-calling patients over 75 or with long-term conditions and asking them over the phone if they have 'thought about resuscitation'.

This is your own national healthcare system trying to save money in the easiest way that it can.

Are these possible signs of another global economic recession or depression for those of us who aren't wealthy?
While I do understand the concept of trying to spend money wisely, I would imagine from a crook's point of view this evens/odds address just tipped the odds of not being caught in my favor by 50%.
And asking me if I don't want to be resuscitated due to economics and my age? Um...

Sorry, I hate talking politics in mixed company, and views on guns, I feel, are very personal and emotional and not always based on logic. Guns are all inanimate objects, tools. And like any tool, they should be used in appropriate situations. My friends use guns to feed their families (hunting). There are numerous stories (that are not broadcast on national news networks) of guns being used by ordinary citizens to stop violence, robberies, car-jackings, home invasions, assaults - yes, there is even a story of a concealed-carry permit holder saving the life of a rookie police officer whose suspect got the upper-hand and tried to kill the officer with his own baton.
And these are the stories that are published - there are probably many, many more that occur under the radar due to the gun stigma.

While the officer in the video may have handled his weapon inappropriately in that situation, he may have been a welcomed sight during the break-in and attack on the elderly mum.
The coward(s) who did that to the mum didn't need a gun to inflict that horrific bodily harm.
Guns per-SE aren't really the problem - it is the behavior of people.

On the original post I hadn't thought of it as political, simply as stupid.

But the story about calling people over 75, or any person with a serious illness - young or old - and (effectively) asking them if it's ok to NOT try to save their lives.....

Well..... both actions speak of a governmental desperation, rather than a political policy decision.

It makes me think of the desperation of the Greek people & government.
