Has anyone upgraded to Windows 10 yet....? Big fan fair about the 29th of July and so far nothing, just a message saying I will be notified when the download is ready.
So, if you have updated:

How does FSX run most importantly...?
It is reported that 10 has no DVD player support......confirmation of this...?
It is also reported that you cannot turn off updates or defer them?
Any third party software issues to report?
Anything else of note...?

I made a reservation for the launchdate 7/29.
Then it showed that W10 is apparently incompatible with my trusted Norton internet security.
Your assumption on the CD drive is correct, I read that too.
Both are reasons for me to cancel my reservation and stick to W7.

Ron

What it really is, is that w10 will not include the old "Windows media player"..

"Microsoft will include an option that will allow Windows 10 to play DVD movie discs at some point in the future.
This news comes a few days after the company confirmed that it would not support Windows Media Center in Windows 10."
Read this here:

This is no biggy..I myself use VLC player, and have done so for many years, used by millions around the globe and totally free.

Imo, the W10 DVD non-support is not an issue..

I have some VERY serious concerns about some specialized software that I know will not run on Win 10.

But no CD/DVD support isn't one of those concerns.

Reinstalling Windows 10 after upgrade

"To enable clean installation of Windows 10 on devices that upgraded and activated online using the free upgrade offer
1.You will be able to download and create installation media on a USB drive or DVD for the appropriate Windows 10 Edition
2.You will be able to skip entering the product key during Windows 10 Setup. Windows 10 will activate online automatically on such devices. The skip option is only available when booting from media and launching setup

The automatic online activation will occur seamlessly after clean installing Windows 10 if the device had previously upgraded and activated online the same Edition of Windows 10. No product keys are required."
