Of all my time in the various Flight Sim Forums, over many years, I have yet to come across a member who lives in the State of Nebraska!
Nebraska rarely appears in the news...(apart from Tornadoes!)....
...maybe all those German citizens who reside there are a peaceful lot!

I am always interested in my USA Chums whereabouts, and I make a note the various States where they live.
Many hours of my Flight Sim time is spent exploring these different States, and today is the time for me to explore the State of Nebraska in greater detail, with the aid of my Cessna 150 Aerobat, my trusty maps, and Wikipedia!

I have a niece that lived there for a while. I live on Navajo Reservation in Arizona, at night I can see Tuba City airport from a hill out by my house. Close to Grand Canyon. If you fly the Grand Canyon I would suggest this, if it is okay here? It looks a whole lot better.

Yep, I've got that Grand Canyon scenery for my Arizona and Colorado Flights!

Arizona is always welcome for my Route 66, Albuquerque (always have great problems spelling that!.. ...) and Flagstaff, etc...Sim Flights, and You-Tube Harley road tours.

The South West USA keeps me occupied for most of my time!

...but I will give Nebraska try... ...!

Some of my family lives in Nebraska. I have driven through it a few times on the way to Colorado or Wyoming. It is one of the most boring states in the US, the speed limits on the highways are 75mph so people can get out of the state faster !
In all seriousness though, NE does have some neat aviation related things such as the Strategic Air Command Museum featuring an SR-71 among other aircraft.

Just watching Henry Cole on; "World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides", TV Travel Channel. A Saxon Chopper trip from Santa Rosa (CA), thru California, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho!

A desert trip, of which I am so familiar with, with all my many years of Sim Flying exploring the scenery!

I love my USA explorations in advance of watching all these TV/Film programs!

I know all these places in great detail, and always feel like I am actually there!

An additional bit of trivia about Ben Kuroki... while he was making his way to the PTO, he was detained in San Francisco by the FBI, who did not believe who he was, and did not believe where he was headed. Ben produced a copy of his Transfer Orders, which were hand signed by Secretary of War Henry Stimson.

It was only after the FBI had contacted the War Department, and conversed with Secretary Stimson (who BTW was extremely upset that Kuroki was even detained in the 1st place), that Kuroki was able to continue his trip to Tinian and join up with his squadron. His Transfer Orders were called into question at each stop he made on the way to Tinian; everyone thought they were forged.

Hello, Fozzer, et al...
Some while ago I mentioned that the USAF deployed me at a remote site in Nebraska, one of the midwest plains states where the wind can be a formidable force.
Winter brings blizzards. A man died of exposure in his attempt to terk the 100 feet from his barn to his house; a plow truck rammed into a stranded bus that was covered by a snowdrift.

The winter can be cold and harsh but summer can be hot (there was a power failure and my carton of milk turned to cottage cheese - it was 114 degrees F in the shade) and the wind still formidable. Along as to its neighboring states, this old joke is applied:
A farmer went to the nearest bank to get a mortgage loan on his farm. After over a ½-hour filling out the forms, he handed the paperwork to the loan agent.
"Well," the agent finally said after a ten-minute perusal, "all seems in order but I'll still have to see your farm before I can give final approval."
"No problem," replied the farmer, "It should be coming by any moment now."

They apply the term "bluffs" to their raised elevations; I told them, "They're called bluffs because they can only pretend to be hills."
The National Arbor Day foundation is headquartered in Nebraska City, NE. During the early part of the last century, the federal gov't paid midwest farmers to plant trees, basically as windbreakers. When the government stopped the stipend, farmers cut the trees back down so they could plant more crops; now you drive by these farms which are employing machinery to spray water, usually around the clock. Although rainstorms give some respite from this, accompanying tornadoes (tornado alley runs through Nebraska; I operated a base unit for spotters who went out in the storm with their CB radios to report tornadoes) can do extensive damage to the crops, as well as to homes.

It confirms my suspicions, after studying Wikipedia, that Nebraska is a very flat area, and completely different from my usual flying haunts in the wonderfully scenic West and South-West USA!

My particular interest in Nebraska, in this Post, was because the State rarely appears in the National News, in between reports of Tornado damage!
It appears to be a State where very little happens to invoke a large public interest!... ...!

I will have a quick tootle around the "hilly?" Western side of Nebraska in my Cessna 150, and then make my way back again to the scenic delights of New Mexico and Arizona!

..any more Sim Flyers here, eager to escape from Nebraska?.... ... ...!

With Global Warming, I suspect that New York will be the next place to be under water!
Looking at New York from a across Manhattan, the city appears to be just a mere few inches above the water level!
San Francisco upper part, Haight-Ashbury area, should be OK though! (Steve Mcqueen.."Bullet" drive!).
(Just the earthquakes are the main problem).
