The Google Maps Time Machine

And now for something completely different:

I had to continually tell myself to close my mouth, my jaw was just hanging in amazement. Havana, Cuba. Step back in time and see great looking old buildings, many of which have been restored, and 50's and 60's American autos, many of which have been repainted in bright colorful hues. I just couldn't believe my eyes. Name your favorite 50's auto, and you could probably find it. I saw 57 Chevies, a mid 50's Caddie, a 57 or so Plymouth, and others I remember but can't name. They're all over the place. You have to load the Google map, then move the 'Guy' over one of the small blue circles to make it work, and within a limited but good size area, you can move about, and even get really close to some very interesting sights. Very clear, in focus, and well lit panoramic views. Get close to the Capitol building, that area is just loaded with a 50's auto show. You might see cars like these at American auto shows, but these autos are out on the street, in motion, and being used daily. It's truly a look-back in time.

And guys: This is a post about being able to see cars and architecture from the past in an active setting which is as good as being in the past. It's not about Cuban-American politics or relations, please let's keep it that way and just enjoy the sights. Thank you.
