This is an exceptionally well done bit of scenery!

I've never seen something this well done! :o

Well.... ....

Downloaded the scenery, it automatically installed itself in my FSX, in my existing ORBX add-on scenery folder.

It appears in the scenery list as ORBX "Devils Tower" scenery.

Now here comes the funny part!....

All the add-on buildings, roads, etc, appear in the parking area near the base of the Tower, but no sign of the big photographic lump of add-on rock, only the default grassy hill!

It took me AGES to find a suitable take-off/landing strip close to the location, with the aid of Wikipedia and Google Satellite Maps....

Finally found a choice of W43 and WY14 for a starting location for the trip!

Used FS Tramp and Plan-G Maps to observe my positions during the flight.

Interesting to note the elevation conflict between the Devils Tower scenery, and my UT, FTX Global, and various add-on scenery elevations!

Got to be very careful when mixing different scenery!..... ;) ...!

The parking area layout is very accurate in comparison with the Google Sat map...but no actual; "Wyoming Rock"!!

Wyoming is a bit too; "flat" for my liking, so its back again to the the breath-taking mountainous regions of the South-West USA, of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, etc.... :D ...!

I had the same problem at first. Then, I actually read (instead of just coloring the pictures) the installer package notes the second time, and it says that you need the latest Orbx libraries for it to run properly. After a short download and install of the required update, we get the Devils tower in all its splendor. It's there alright. Big as life. There's 4 "stones" at the top, arranged in what looks like a helicopter landing pad. Very nice of them to make this all for only (wait for it...)

FREE 99. as in $00.00. Nuthin. Free as a bird. Awesome.

By the way, how does one upload HUGE pictures here that fit the criteria of the forums? I can't seem to save a jpg less than 60% actual size that SimV will allow.

Right clicking on the picture will give you some info.

Put the picture into your favorite photo editing program and save it at a compression rate that'll fit into the proper size.

Thankfully, no.

I'm a science fiction guy, with the emphasis on the science.

Science wise, that was one of the worst movies that I've ever seen.

If I hadn't been with a girlfriend who wanted to see it, I would have gotten up and left the theater within 20 minutes.

Benevolent aliens my butt!

One thing not mentioned anywhere that I've seen, is that it covers a fairly large area compared to areas such as Monument Valley, or even Yosemite National Park.

As Paul mentioned, other than the tower its' self, it's not spectacular or mountainous scenery. Still, it is an attractive area.

So this only works if you already have the orbx scenery library (payware) installed?

If so it's a payware addon ;)

I finally managed to get the "Rock" to show up after Googling for the OrbX library upgrade...>>>

OrbX Libraries download:

The Rock!...

The Car park...

Its interesting to locate the Devil Tower's car park on "Google Street Map", zoom down, and have a wander around there!
During nice weather that car park can be seen crammed full of motor cars and Harley Davidson bikes, and loads of folks exploring the area!

Its worthwhile taking a "You-Tube" tour around the local roads in the area of the Tower!

Paul....Had a peek....now back to sunny California again!... :D ...!

P.S...I've now got Yosemite, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, and Devil's Tower add-on freeware..(when required. Not always a good choice).

P.S....

It took me years to correctly pronounce "Yosemite".

Its not Yoss-e-might.......!

..its Yoss-em-it-ee!..... ...!

Its always worth listening to USA News Broadcasts, to learn the correct pronunciation of place names... ...!

San Jose:

San Joe-see..NO!... ...

..its San Ho-say!... ...!

the installer tells you to make sure you have the latest libraries installed,
it gives you an option to download them.
some people probably just clicked past it.

Choctawhatchee Bay

Where I used to live. Try to pronounce it. I dare you.

(Neither Yosemite nor San José is of English origin. Yosemite is native American and San José is Spanish. Chock-ta-HATCH-ee is also native American.)
