What did cops yell before NCIS?

Postby Webb » Tue Mar 24, 2015 8:59 pm

Would anyone have ever heard of NCIS in the absence of the television series?

If you were running from a crime scene in 1990 and someone yelled, "Stop, NCIS!", would you have stopped?

Could you be prosecuted for eluding a law enforcement officer if you told the judge that you had never heard of NCIS and neither had anyone else (except maybe a few people in the Navy)?

Wouldn't it make more sense if they yelled, "Stop, Police!"?

Back in 1990, they would have been known as NIS, and maintained a less visible profile than the guys (and gal) today.

They would probably have said 'HALT, FEDERAL AGENT'.

I'd stop for that.

If it wasn't for the delectable; "Abby", I doubt that I would still be watching NCIS.... ;) ...!

I must admit, that in comparison to the other "CSI-type" shows, it does have an element of humour in it, which makes it popular and entertaining......audiences quite like it, apparently!!

...and I will always love Abby!.... ...!

If someone in the UK yelled "Stop, RAF police" or "Stop, military police", unless you are a serviceman, they would get laughed at..

I carry a copy of "Gibbs' Rules" on my Smartphone... good rules to live by.

If I needed someone to watch my six, who better than former Mossad officer Ziva David?

If there was someone who could update the MSFS Source Code, it would probably be Tim McGee.

Chuck Norris got his stare (and stones) from watching Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

The closest I came to the Keystone cops was in Cyprus in the '50's. On gate guard duties you had to yel in 3 languages :Halt,Stomata,Durr" 3 times before you could shoot. Then you could unwind your bullets from being encased in sellotape and load your revolver. By then the terrorist Eoka man had vanished into the gloom.

Under most US rules police are not allowed to shoot at fleeing suspects so yelling "Stop" is pretty meaningless. I suppose it just means that they can tack on an eluding charge after the fact.

I watch, transfixed, every day; "Cops" and "Cops reloaded" on USA; "CBS Reality" on my TV....

..and I marvel at the vast number of additional charges that the Cops can tack onto a simple felony charge, such as; "eluding", etc, etc, etc,

I watch them closely, and I can see them frantically trying do dream up as many additional charges that they can think of in a short space of time!

The Cops just love it when someone tries to "escape/elude"...I see their excitement and joy on their little faces as they grab for the Gun/Tazer/Big Stick/Accelerator, and ready for the great chase.

A large group of them can then get together, (they appear by magic), leap upon the unfortunate felon, grind his/her face into the gravel with their knees until the blood flows, break their arms while that attempt to handcuff them, while they directly Tazer him/her on their skin....to keep them "Submitted"....

.....they love; "Submitting" folks....Its all part of the day's work!.... ...!

Its a favourite game in the US..."Cops versus Robbers/Eluders"!... :D ....!

Off to watch; "CBS Reality"; "Jail" on the TV now..... ...lots more unrelenting violence....

...and that's just the Cops!... :o ...!

Paul.... ... ... ...!

Here in British Columbia, they just wound up a case where after the RCMP tazered someone to death, they whole bunch of them were charged with perjury. The final result remains to be seen. My guess is that they'll have to write down 100 times "I must not lie under oath."

I'm always surprised, when I very closely watch in Police documentaries, some of the Cops Tazering someone by applying the Tazer in direct contact with the person's skin, and holding it there until they get the person to "comply" with their instructions!
A process, as I understand it, is an unlawful act for the Police to carry out!
...and the evidence can be seen on film!

A happy Cop, is a Cop with a Tazer!
