8 Years

Postby Tom... » Wed Jan 21, 2015 9:40 pm

I haven't visited the forums in ages, I haven't posted in almost 4 years. Crazy how time flies!!

I've just spent the last half an hour looking through my posts from the past, it brought back so many good memories of being an active part of the community and regularly using flight simulator. I can't remember the last time I played flight simulator or had it installed on my computer. It's nice to see that the site is still going and some old faces are still around here.

Also I've been a member of the forums for over 8 years now, when I joined I was only 14. It's a shame that the forum is less active now than it was previously...maybe it'll change some day.

edit: WHAT was I thinking when I made my avatar and signature back in the day?! It's almost enough to cause an epileptic fit

Hi Tom, been a while!
We're not less active, just we've divided things up a little more, more specific forums. Still plenty of action if you know where to look ;-)

Good to see past members popping in ..

During a forums upgrade from Yabb to the present phpbb3 we had to convert to one specific forum that had a yabb conversion option (smf I think it was called) then convert from that to phpbb3 (that had a smf conversion option). Sadly some members were not able to log on after the final conversion and we did loose some (or just as likely they didn't read the BIG notice that the forums had moved and thought they had been frozen).

But overall, and to my great surprise, the site is as busy as it has ever been - and this is several years after the last release of any MSFS product. OK we have P3D but that is not marketed to the general public and probably has little input into how active simviation is. My own theory is that FSX was a little ahead of its time when it was released and many people couldn't run it. Now that they may have upgraded their PC's they have started to use it. & FSX (& to a lesser extent FS2004) is still the best PC flight simulator out there. (P3D excepted but like I said that's not marketed to the public) .... so MSFS is alive and kicking!!

Now why dont you reinstall FSX and fly (NOT 'play') again? :D

Certain topic areas are, partly due to the added sections, as Ozzy and Pete mention -- and because members like you keep gallavanting off to who knows where...
