Goodly morning all... :D

Today is one of my favourite times of the year..."Halloween"...

http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/canada/halloween

Later today the Old Girl and I shall mosey over to the Royal Canadian Legion and help decorate for the Trick or Treat children arriving in costumes just as soon as the sun goes down.

There will be a few things for them to do:
-apple bobbing
-musical chairs
-parade of costumes
-best costume award...every child wins... ...Wonder how come I never get a prize :?:
-much more...

We have already heard that some of our grandchildren will be arriving in our area.... :)

They are all like their grandmother "the Old Girl" a real witch... :o  :violin:

Not sure what you folks here will be doing tonight for Halloween but I shall be trying to steal candy from the children much to the annoyance of the Old Girl...

From the above Link:

Background

Halloween has Celtic origins. In pre-Christian times, many people believed that spirits from the underworld and ghosts of dead people could visit the world of the living on the night of October 31. These spirits could harm the living or take them back to the underworld. To avoid this, people started dressing up as ghosts and spirits if they left their homes on October 31. They hoped that this would confuse the ghosts and spirits.

Halloween was also a time, when spirits might give messages to people. In some areas, it was traditional for unmarried girls to poor molten lead into water. The shape that the lead took when it hardened was seen as a clue to the professions of their future husbands. Halloween traditions were brought to Canada by Irish and Scottish immigrants. Halloween is now celebrated in a range of other countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia

Gee, Paul. I'm so sorry that you don't get the kind of Trick or Treaters that we do.

So far the ones that I'm getting are very friendly. Even when I tell them that I'll accept the trick.

Well I've scared my kids friend's parents quite badly last night. I made an operational guillotine out of cardboard, tin foil and sellotape (and I never got a Blue Peter badge!), but you could draw the blade up and drop it. So all the decorations I've brought were "dull and just what my mum and dad got", however every last one of the little monsters when collected had to show off the guillotine "Emi's/David's dad made" and things like "Its sooooo cool! Can I have one? I want to chop my sisters dolly's heads off with one!" abounded....
So I'm a very cool dad, if slightly terrifying :-D
And only Emi and David got the joke about the drawing of the Black Fingernail on it... for those who are now confused, please watch Carry On Don't Lose Your Head ;-)
