The slowly rising tide of discord and global tension ripples once again, placing innocents in harm's way. My thoughts go out to all of the people affected by this incident, including the Canadian soldier who lost his life.

There is no slowly rising tide of discord. It is all about a subject that we are not allowed to discuss at SimV.

I look upon this thread as a heads-up on a piece of disturbing news on a subject which is rapidly affecting us all.

The sort of news that I follow anxiously every day in the various Media.

If "that topic which we cannot discuss" was abolished humans would find another reason to kill each other IMO.

the killers don't do it because of that topic, they do it because they are nasty pieces of work. That topic is just a rationalisation to justify their bloody deeds.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone with my post as that was not my intention. I just thought that it was something that people everywhere should be aware of. If this post is not allowed then I respectfully request that it be removed.

You mean that wars can almost always be traced back to humans in competition for limited (percieved or otherwise) resources?

I think your post is well within everyone's limitations of allowance. Some of the rest of us are kind of tippy toeing around the edges of what is allowed, but I haven't noticed a terrible propensity for posters here to get upset easily. Everyone tries to be polite, but I think most posters here don't go looking for things to be offended by, which can't be said for most online forums. Simviation forum posters are some of the best online forum users I've had dealings with. Everyone is nice almost always, and I've almost never seen anyone be intentionally disruptive or impolite.

Over the years we've had a few massive meltdowns, hence the rules. Personally I try to avoid all news stories here, I come here to get away from all the negativity. If I want to get depressed I'll pop the telly on

Just a few thoughts, none very well connected.


Most of us will have opinions, some of them very strong ones. When I first saw this post I wanted to throw in a word or two. But to what effect? Would anything become better?

I don't find any of the posts in this posting offensive. Tug002s' least of all.

So should we censure anyone for brining up a bad news story, no. Not in the least, we're doing fine as we are.

There is a world wide problem that's growing. But I'll go along with Ozzy, it's better off discussed elsewhere, not here.



BTW - One of the other sites that I used to frequent (nothing to do with flying) had a groups of trolls that kept within the letter of the "law", but were trolls for all that.

That "other" site created a sub-forum for social-political-religious discussions that you had to sign in to, even to read the contents.

The trolls had a field day.

If anyone had an opinion that they disagreed with, they'd descend upon that person, and anyone who supported them. Even going so far as to follow you on topics out side of that area.

Always keeping within the letter of the law, of course.


How bad were they (the trolls)? They cried havoc - freedom of speech - when Amazon removed a book (The Pedophile's Guide ...) written by a pedophile. Censorship! Injustice!

I left that site.

A number of my friends blew a circuit and disappeared.

Trolls love showing off how much "smarter" they are than you, no matter what the subject.

Don't attract trolls by giving them a forum.

We're doing very well without them, thanks to the mods.


P.S. - I find no problem with anyone on SimV.

Even if they foolishly disagree with me.

Good point on your part. I will keep future posts of news off the forum as what you said is true. Just lost my train of thought when I posted that bit as it hit a little to close to home as I spend a lot of time in Ottawa and the area.
