this is an entirely different Strain of Ebola.

One of those countries could be the "United States", health officials have said. In fact, the U.S. Department of State announced Friday that it is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to bring home two U.S. citizens who have been infected by Ebola in Liberia.


Keep in mind, there are Flying Hospitals, huge Aircraft, and if nothing else an entire 747 or A380 could of been used to house and quarnteen these 2 individuals in some remote location while maybe - hopefully being treated, proper supplies & medicine could of been shipped in if necessary daily or weekly to treat these 2 individuals till they either get better or Die.

We can ship thousands upon thousands of Military Equipment in record time 1/2 way around the World for the IRAQ War, twice, there was no reason to bring these 2 individuals back here to the US to a very populated city like Atlanta Georgia.

Anything, goes wrong, slightest little thing, 1 person screws up, and doesn't say anything, to afraid to bring attention to themselves and there will be mass hysteria and Panomonium on a massive scale !

Worse than the attacks of 911 or the OKC Bombing of 1995.

This was a badd idea, should of taken these 2 , to a remote island , with an Airstrip or decent runway, and housed them inside a Jet Transport plane, specially outfitted and rigged up to treat these 2 individuals with everything the doctors and nurses need to cure maybe, maybe not these 2 individuals.

I'm NOT the only one raising concerns over this either and aren't to hip on this stunt !

Tho, just a movie made in 1997 the Movie 'OUTBREAK" touched base on this very idea of a very "Contagious virus" spreading person to person wiping out almost an entire US Town in the pacific Northwest .

Odd that I had those very thoughts just yesterday while watching the news about this. It may seem cruel, but this is a very dangerous virus.

However, the news also said something about the virus "not being airborne contagious". My words there, I didn't catch the entire description. Of course, we still don't want to get sneezed at, etc. Exactly how the virus is transmitted is important for everyone to know, for obvious reasons of precautions and to prevent panic. I'll Google it and see what I can find out.

Recently the virus has been shown to travel without contact from pigs to primates making pigs a new possible host for the virus. While the method of transmission is not determined it is believed to travel short distances through the air in large droplets that are absorbed through the airways effectively making it an airborne virus.

What we need is clarification of whether or not it can be airborne transmitted. Not just by getting sneezed at, but in general. Can I go into a crowded mall and feel safe? Can I sit down in a restaurant or mall food court and feel safe?

As long as the Ebola infected persons can run away from the isolated "hospitals" and into the big cities, we sure are in trouble!!!!!

Really wouldn't matter to me what the US Government officials say, I have absolutely NO Trust in them what so ever, they lie so much and are so Inept at their jobs, and frankly they don't really give a rats ass.

Case in Point - look how they been treating our Military Veterans, past and current at the VA all these years !!!!

and lets not forget the Walter Reed Hospital Fiasco back in 2008/2009

as far as the Medical community goes, I lost all faith in them years ago,, we no longer have real Doctors anymore - what we have are "Pill Pushers", they want everybody on Prescription Medication, young and old, so your basically in a Medically Induced Coma, walking around totally clueless and completely Naïve, and not aware of your surroundings and not Focused on what your doing , I've been noticing that a lot lately in people as they appear totally , "Zombified" !

Some of these Hospitals can't even keep new born babies where there supposed to be, without somebody tryin' to kidnap them right out of the hospital, its happened like 3 times already.

Doctors leaving surgical tools in patients after they've been sewed up,, we've all heard that before the stories,,,

Frankly, I don't Trust these people nowdays, whole different generation than 25 or 30 years ago who took their jobs and career more serious, than some of these people today, nobodys paying attention to anything anymore, to "Pre-Occupied" with that silly device in their hand, known as a cell phone, either texting or talking about where to meet for drinks later,,, who's paying attention or Focused on anything,,, hince all the car accidents , running lights at intersections .

This will be interesting to see how this plays out, hopefully nothing happens , but if it does, I don't look for them to step up to the plate and admit any kind of fault on their own if theres been a "BREECH" or accident or somebody really screws up, can you imagine the mass panic that'd take place !!!

IF - I were head of anything like that CDC , I'd clearly NOT brought those 2 back here, and requested help from the Military, Boeing somebody with resources to get me a Large commercial or Military Aircraft , preferbally a flying Hospital, and outrig that aircraft as quickly as possible to handle this situation, and then pick a very remote accessible South Pacific Island with a runway big enough to handle the aircraft, and treat these 2 there in a remote area, and also be able to have extra supplies flown or Air-dropped in,, if and when needed

but that's thinking Logical, who does that anymore ?

I kinda think some Doctor is hyped up on making "Notoriety" for himself over the Safety and Security of an entire city and industrialized Country.

This is no time for EGO Trip meaniac's looking for their 15 minutes of fame !

On a very childish note - How do the medical attendants (doctors, nurses, etc.) go to the bathroom on the flight over here?

I mean, you're all suited up in a biohazard suit. Right?



For that matter - Who gets to clean up the aircraft? Some minimum wage, high school grads who are more used to cleaning chewing gum off the seat bottoms & armrests?

I can see how that'll work out.

Final question to validate your own sanity.

If casual contact is not possible to contract the virus, why was the missionary doctor and the medical transport worker both wearing a hazmat suit?

Now if casual contact is not possible, then neither should need a hazmat suit, right?

You can't contract the virus from tears or a kiss, right? So if there was exorbitant caution, only one person, either the transport worker or the sick doctor would be wearing the hazmat.

Something is more than fishy.

It's a very sticky situation, especially after the recent troubles the CDC has gone through.

On a side note... thanks, Jetranger for posting the photos of the Flying Hospital; I've wondered what the interior layout of an airplane used as a Surgical suite would look like.

This is where it gets scary. It makes sense that any doctor dealing with ebola patients would exercise extreme caution. Somehow, tho, he must have slipped up. Now we have to wonder if we're getting all the facts, or they're just trying to keep us calm while we wait and see if we get hit with it big time. The question is a good one: Exactly how were these two infected?

Dr. Brantly is a young doctor with a young daughter. Helping people is great. Too bad he couldn't have been bothered to help people here in the U.S. I have a very difficult time understanding stuff like that.

Remember my question about who does the cleaning up?

I'm willing to bet that it wasn't the highest paid, and most well trained person around.
