I have to disagree Paul, this is a bad idea for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, they don't need to. There is a perfectly good system presently in place. After and accident where the police suspect you were using your phone, all they have to do is ask for the relevant data from the phone service provider, it will also show far more detail than your phone. I also don't trust the police to only look at the phone usage. Once they have your phone, they will look at all your messaging, emails and pictures.........just is case they can charge you with anything else, like child abuse because you happen to have a picture of your children in the bath on your phone (this has already happened and not just once, although the CPS has thrown it out, the people were still subjected to the process including DNA). Then I believe they wont just take the phone of the driver. Anyone in the car(s) will have their phone taken as the driver could have been using it. Then there is my example. Presently, if I use a phone in my car it is not illegal......My phone connects to my car automatically by Bluetooth and all the controls for my phone are on the steering wheel. I make no physical connection to my phone as the law requires. Right now, the law tells me usage with this system is legal, however in the event of the smallest shunt, I have now in the eyes of the police committed a crime when I have not. Also what about those who turn their phones off when they drive. When I drive the company maintenance car, I turn of my company phone otherwise the dam thing rings insistently. If I have an accident under these rules, I would lose a very important bit of company equipment that we cannot operate without through no fault of my own other than the police are just trawling for a potential crime......?
Until the law clarifies just what information they can obtain from a phone under these conditions, I would refuse to provide the access code and as I receive company email on mine, it is not just a simple four figure code either.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
Sounds like a good idea to me?....
