We talking strip, or ring?

or

I had both; the strips were much more entertaining, especially when you took a single strip roll and smashed it with a rock, brick or other hard object!

My fascination for them went away though, when I discovered Estes Model Rockets.

The strips were also more "true to life".

Just like the cowboy guns on TV.

I remember when you hit that roll with a hammer they'd make one hell of a bang! :o

It normally would deafen you for several minutes. :confusion-seeingstars:

We were all 7-year-old, gun-slinging Cowboys, with Six-shooter cap guns, protecting our territory against marauding Red Indians with their bows and arrows!

...it was the way the West was won........ after school!

Take the ole Roy Rogers pistols, flip open the chamber that held the roll of caps, load, and you were set to go. Good memories of a era gone bye.

Hmmn... your side of the pond had already lost it -- but we also continued it in quite inaccurate reenactments of The Swampfox (we didn't always recognize the historical progression from muskets in our journey back in time -- mainly because cap muskets were harder for school kids to come by than authentic muskets).
Strange how youth are attracted to little explosions. We especially did strip cap scene in early grade school. Late grade school escalated to cherry bombs and atom pearls; five atom pearls, each barely larger than a BB, were packed in sawdust in a round, pressed-paper container. A classmate once removed them from the container and put them in his pocket. Forgetting, I believe he was in the school hallway when he later reached into that pocket; his leg and fingers were bloodied as the side of his pants were blown out...

I recently had to get Emi one for school. She decided to go to World Book Day as the new Miss Moneypenny, complete with Walther. Got it on Amazon from Germany along with a few strips of caps.
