I'm a strong believer in competition and don't believe in closing international doors on that .... however people (individuals) have the right to be as loyal or as price choosy as they like.

There's competition and there's unfair competition. Ask a Chinese worker who lives in a factory dormitory with low pay, no air conditioning, working 72-hour work weeks, and suffering under brutal management how he or she feels about the so-called "free market". And maybe make time for the American who used to do that work but got to see the corporation close the factories in America so the work could be done in China. International trade agreements are just another factor in the "race to the bottom" for the working class. The Chinese oligarchs and Wal-Mart stockholders got to love it. Nations like China, Russia, Viet Nam, that don't have a developed civil society are going to have lots of civil unrest. The riots in Chinese factory dorms don't get reported very much in American media. No surprise. Not in the corporate interest.

While I certainly don't disagree with your view that there are a lot of people in the world that suffer terrible working conditions...and I truly hope that these workers rise up and eventually start to make gains like we have in North America (remember 100 years ago workers here weren't much better off)...It is ironic that the average North American consumer happily makes their purchases from stores that support this sort of activity.

Besides, the economics of the whole thing are far beyond what 99% of the world would understand anyhow. It's not as simple as saying "pay them more!" or "Buy local only!".
