Goodly afternoon all... <<q

Here is some information I found with Links that you might find interesting... ;)

Also some Douglas DC3s/C47s were installed with Floats only and not Amphibious Floats.

If I heard him right there were some fifty (50) Douglas C47s or DC3s which came off the assembly line with the Float Kits Installed.

Also not One or Two Douglas C47s or DC3s were modified with Amphibious Floats but Eleven Aircraft flew on Amphibious Floats.
Now I have read several articles and some folks mention One and some mention Five Aircraft were equipped with Amphibious Floats but I think he said somewhere around Eleven Aircraft or more were on Amphibious Floats...

I was fortunate enough to see one in action at an air show at the Brunswick NAS about 17 years ago. Beautiful plane, well taken care of and it made a nice flyby. You needed a step-ladder to access the cabin, but what the hey, once inside....Thanks for the link.

Very cool Doug! Thank you. I've done searches in the past hoping someone had made
an FS9 model of this very thing. I think she looks good on floats. But then again, she would
look good on anything! :D

Ahh.. my first love... The DC-3

Thanks "boromir125" much appreciated for the reply... ;)

I have never seen a Douglas DC3 on Floats or Amphibious Float to date but I know an old Lanc Driver who knows where one is and will take the Old Girl and me there this summer. Apparently there is some damage to the aircraft or the floats and he said it might have been sold.

Why they would not put something like that in a museum or flying museum is beyond me...

Thanks for the reply Steve...much appreciated... <<s

You heard from the Link there were up to fifty (50) of these Amphibious Floats produced with eleven sets going onto aircraft.

There were also one hundred and fifty (150) Straight Floats produced. How many went on aircraft I did not hear.

These Floats all had built in Fuel Tanks to give the Douglas C47 or DC3 a longer range.

Wonder if anyone bought a pair and made a house boat or a pontoon boat out of them :?:

I know where there is a Consolidated Canso/Catalina or as we called them Pig Boats that has been turned into a yacht...

MAAM-SIM created the XC-47 with the Amphib Floats for FS9, but that's the only one in existence for us sim folks.

Thank you Viper. :) I want to buy the MAAM-SIM C-47 at some point.

Can someone tell me.. would it be hard for a novice to manipulate a
model file of something like say.. the default DC-3?

Also.. Is there a free program out there for doing such a thing?
