Shuttleworth airfield at Old Warden (UK) is very active most the year, with a variety of public shows and things.

Very popular are the vintage flying days, and at other days it also serves as a flying club for the RC fanatics.
I took these photos of this magnificent homebuilt V12 aero engine at one such open RC day at Shuttleworth.

What can I say..speaks for itself doesn't it?

THIS is a place I stand in awe of. California Redwood forest like the one where i grew up. I counted some of the old-growth stump rings, they were over 5,000 years old. Five THOUSAND years!!! Can you imagine the things they lived through, the history they saw, the wisdom they accumulated Nearly as long as Paul or OAM!...right up until the humans came along and killed them...
Really saddens me whan I consider all the implications...

Speaking of wisdom, I like to collect old sayings and one I came across recently very nicely defines wisdom:

I don't know who this "Anon" guy is but he's pretty smart. He has a lot of old sayings to his credit. ( )

...but not in Woodside, Frisco', eh, Pat... ... ...!

Down the peninsula a bit but yeah, SF Bay Area
Bout 3-4 miles up Woodside Rd. (CA 84) from Miss Temple's manse Where she died yesterday. Didn't know her other than to look at but the few times I did see her, like in Robert's of Woodside (our grocery store) or whatever, she pretty much refused to ackhowledge us lesser mortals even existed. Oh well!

Our property, where I grew up and my parents still live, was right on the oak/redwood line. I spent a large part of my childhood wandering the redwoods, just taking in the beauty of them. As I got older, I realized not only were they climbable, they were mighty close together! At least back then they were. Loads of fun seeing how far I could go without touching the ground And so as y'all know, dropped redwood branches make both very beautiful and very usefull walking sticks/hiking staves, if one takes the time to clean, sand, and varnish them up real nice

Anyway, have a great night all, stay safe!
Don't forget, Paul, your stewardess may be used as a floatation device, should it become necessary!

Hello Pat.... ...!

My daily Frisco Bay flights for the past 16+ years (since Flight Unlimited II) have often taken me over Woodside (and its VOR Station: 113.90) travelling from San Carlos and Palo Alto, over the top, to Half Moon Bay (KHAF), and since your mention of it; yesterday I Google Street-Mapped Woodside at ground level. I had no idea it was such a "very posh" place, covered in amazing houses, private swimming pools, and tennis courts, etc!

Pat; We must take some "Multiplayer" flights together, and I'll take you on a low-level, nostalgic tour of Norcal (and Socal) in my Cessna 150!.... .....!

I don't normally travel much farther north than Santa Rosa (KSTS) in the direction of Oregon...I have a great fear of Bears....and "Oreganos"!.... ....!

Paul....off for a flight around Cal Central Valley (Tracy KTCY), and the (expensive) Almond Trees.... ....!
