Not being an enthusiast of the cold, it looks like there are very few areas in the USA that I can fly comfortably for a while!

S.W. California is hopefully a bit warmer for me. Must keep a close eye on the Kron4 + L.A. News weather broadcasts!

Paul....making sure my carburettor is nice and warm...as well as the rest of me!... :D ...!

Bazillions of local news reporters standing outside and telling you not to stand outside.
It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey..

The polar vortex has hit South Florida.

It was 82° this afternoon. I went to the driving range around noon and worked up a pretty good sweat.

The cold front came in around sunset and now it's down to 61° and it's going to hit 40° overnight.

It's only going to last for a couple of days though.

The weather in general is pretty cocked up this winter. America cold enough to freeze O2, the UK has storms like no tomorrow and floods and here on the North German Plain, where I would be expecting anything between 0°C and -20°C, we have this morning 10°C and a forecast of 15°C for this weekend....................Still my heating bill is looking good this year....

Goodly morning Paul... ;)

I guess like many Canucks we enjoy all Four Seasons Mother Nature brings to us.

Now the Old Girl and I don't fly much anymore, about five hours a month with another licensed aviator who is usually a good friend or family member.

What I like about Winter Flying is the landscape, everything from the air looks so tidy, groomed and organized when flying over rural areas or small hamlets, villages and towns.

There is something about landing on skis/wheel skis that is comparable to flying off floats, amphibious floats or a seaplane.
One has much more freedom to go places than just flying off wheels from a paved or groomed grass strip in the winter months.

Landing at a Flying Farmers strip in the winter, leaning on the rail fence, sipping on a warm toddy and talking about flying or the neighboring neighbor's daughter (most of us are too old anyways... so we just dream and talk about her), watching the cattle, horses and other livestock without being buzzed by insects, well there is just something about the comradeship that brings back fond memories of Military Service Life and Bush Flying. Chewing the rag with other Rag and Tube Aviators is a favourite past time of many of us Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers and we share the past and live the moment whatever season we are in and doing so keeps us young of heart...

A good game of hockey on a frozen pond, downhill or cross country skiing, curling these are all great winter sports we enjoy only during the winter.

Yes there is lots to do during the winter for all ages and you bet we look forward to that season... ;)

It's very nice out now, 3 degrees Fahrenheit / -16 Celsius.

The wind has dropped down to 15 mph this morning. But with it gusting up to 29 mph it does seem a little cooler.

I had been concerned that trees might blow down in the night, taking out the power lines with them.

All in all, a nice blue sky day. :D

The little dog did walk a bit briskly this morning though.

But my computer room (an old summer room that I added windows to) is now toasty, 50 degree Fahrenheit / 10 celcius.

TOASTY 50 Degrees F?..... :o ...!

Anything lower than 72*F (20*C) in my house, and I will be freezing cold!
(25*C is even nicer).

Paul...Its Central Heating Time!.... ...!

I don't care about the Heating Bill...as long as I am warm!... ;) ...!

That's what my wife thinks too. That's why she bought me a useless electric space heater for Christmas.

On the other hand, she did buy me a very nice stick for walking the dog over icy ground. :D

Can't complain about today's weather, it's a balmy -1F with a -16F windchill. Yesterday was different. We had a temp of -58 including the windchill. The governor of Minnesota closed all the schools down for the day. Took the little cockapoo out for his morning constitutional and I swear I've never seen a dog pee and crap so fast. I think his motto was "Pee and Flee."
