Goodly afternoon all...

So, it is January 2nd, 2014 and things should be back to normal. People back to work, stores open and folks trying to remember what their New Years Resolutions were they made...

Here in Canuck Land it is Minus 35 Degrees Celsius, a tad bit cool and snow on the way this afternoon. We now have about two feet of snow however we are at the mouth of the Trent River and Bay of Quinte so the winds off Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte blow the snow towards the villages north of us.

Myself, am not starting 2014 off very well, most of you know I broke my foot prior to Christmas and after five weeks they removed the cast. Now I have to go back January 8th and have pins put in as I didn't stay off my feet long enough for it to heal properly.

It can be a bitch getting old...

We did manage to get into the air yesterday several times. I went with an old friend, another Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezer. We flew up the river buzzing some Ice Fishermen's Huts, chased a few snowmobilers and did some touch and goes on skis at several Flying Farmers Strips.
Had a wonderful time at the bugsmasher field also. Lots of food and wobbly pop available, some of those other Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers can sure tell some whoppers and tall tales.

Now you folks know I would never tell a tall tale...

I did make several New Years Resolution this year.

I am not going to drool on my key board when Paul "Fozzer" posts his fabulous meals AND I am going to hire Agent 007 to find out what his secret gravy recipe is...

As this is the second day of 2014 I really am not doing too bad at all...

The Old Girl has not sent me to the corner of my wee little shed down in the underground parking...yet!...

Hope you have all recovered from New Years Eve and doing well, will soon be back in the simulated skies of FSX...

Its now 2014, and I can assure you and everyone else that my amazing home-cooked dinners, containing my amazing gravy, will be just (or more) as delicious as they were in 2013.....

...never fear... ...!

...and my FSX in my amazing new i7 2014 game computer, is much smoother than in my old P4 2005 computer... ...!

35 years ago I worked as an orthopedic assistant in an ER. So good luck on the pins too.

And make sure that you have some good painkillers BEFORE you go in. You don't want to drop a prescription off at the pharmacy on your way home.

Keep the foot up this time.

Roast Pork with crispy outer skin...lots of salt and pepper...one of my favorite's Paul...

Have some Tylenol 3 but it is not often I take pills of any kind OldAirmail...
My biggest problem is sitting still any length of time...I have to always be doing something...I have an Air Boot and had to pay for that...will start using that again...

Your little story reminds me of everything that I hate about; "Winter", with is darkness, cold, snow, and ice...

Warm-blooded creatures (like me) were never designed for those sort of conditions!

Sounds like you need a snow blower or a whole lot of children to shovel your drive...

I am not one for Yard Sales unless there are some aviation parts, etc. there and at a reasonable price but during the summer you might find a used working snow blower at a Yard Sale...

Right this moment it is minus -39 degrees Celsius but the sun is starting to shine.

I am wondering if at the Air Base if the Hercs are towing those suck and blow C17s to get them Air Started...

Several sailing ice boats are on the bay along with lots of ice fishermen with and without colourful ice huts.

Paul you need to sit in the front seat of a two seat bugsmasher with flannel red underwear on (you know the type with the trap door in the rear) under a warm snowmobile suit, a warm toddy in your paws, flying along at ten to twelve feet above the ice looking to chase snowmobilers and buzz ice huts.
Now I am sure that will get you in the Winter Wonderland mood Paul...

Over here its 5C and raining.
Australia is burning 50C.

It looks like were in the middle and mr. Winter has not showed his face, yet

Ahhhh.

I remember those wonderful -40 degree Minnesota winters.

Put the studded snow tires on in late fall. Take them off for spring.


It's so much better here in Pennsylvania - 14 degrees with a -5 degree wind chill.

I don't think that snow tires are legal here, but the road sure is packed ice.


When I was a little kid I used to wonder why people would want to move to Florida.

After shoveling snow twice in the past 12 hours, I know.


I think that I'll go back to Death Valley and fly for a few hours.

When suffering with the cold.... ....

A visit to Death Valley seems like a very good cure to me.... ...!

Nice to hear from you all in the cooold. Here in God's country, it's a balmy +8 and dry. The snow all went before Xmas. I sometimes wonder why I go south to Mexico when the weather is like this. As far as meals are concerned, I got a Lb of liver for $1.50 at the local Buy-low and it lasted 2 days. 1st meal was liver and onions, next day it was liver and bacon. Yummy. Of course I still have a can of bully beef in the pantry to make corned beef hash one day. Tried my hand at making Melton Mowbray pork pie, but the gelatin you get here is wrong. Never mind, it was almost like old times. I still have apples in the shed that I can make apple pie with. I mention all this because I can't get out of town through the mountains, all snowed in up the passes. Never mind the days are getting longer now. All the best from Lillooet,BC

Actually, it looks like a good summer place.





The only "view" that I have is of the street. No mountains anywhere near here.
