I believe tonight is the start of a new Ice Pilots Season.

Our family watches very few television programs but this "Ice Pilots" is a program we seldom miss...

Ours isn't due over here, yet, Doug.... ...

But I always look forward to the shows; "Ice Pilots" and "Ice Road Truckers", when they arrive on our shores!

..but I still cant figure out why those folks seem to like to live, and work, in those freezing climates!.... .....!

Hi Paul...

We live in Southern Ontario and like your Winter it is cold and damp.

However, farther North the winter is cold and dry. Much more comfortable.

We used to snowmobile and fly off wheel/skis with just light coats or layered clothing with a heavy coat/winter parka stored away for an emergency in the north country.

Being on the Great Lakes I find the winters comfortable if one dresses for them, children here in Southern Ontario do not seem to mind the cold damp winters here along the Great Lakes and many times the old girl and I watch them snowmobile or cross country ski with no heavy coats or winter parka on.

Layered clothing is the way to go now inside and outside the home. We keep several winter parkas and emergency equipment in our Land Rovers for our use or if we come across an accident.

I don’t think anyone said they actually liked living in the frozen north Fozzer. Some have to live there and someone has to provide for those that do. No-one likes paying $6 for a pint of milk either, but that’s the cold hard truth. Buffalo do a wonderful job with planes that should have been retired years ago, they make money to stay operating, but like living up there? I flew Tundra Air for 12 years in that climate, but I got paid a decent wage to do it. I admire Buffalo in that they work for little pay and no benefits. I doubt if they truly like it.
