Pedialyte Hangover Cure: Does It Really Work Better Than Sprite? 16 Percent Sales Boosts Says it Does

In the search for a foolproof and proven cure for the hangover, a new highly unlikely candidate has emerged, but many experts are skeptical.

The New York Daily News reported that a pocket of Chicago graduate and undergraduate students swear by drinking Pedialyte the morning after a night of drinking to cure a hangover.

It was previously reported that Chinese researchers had tested several beverages and hangover cures and found Sprite to the best option. But its most hardcore believers say the liquid meant for infants suffering from dehydration, vomiting or diarrhea is the best morning-after remedy.

Everyone may have a different home-remedy or strategy, but Pedialyte may cater best to those who like to drink a Gatorade when they wake up with headache and body stiffness. The liquid is jam-packed with electrolytes and other nutrients, but does not contain the sugary additives of Gatorade ...

Sounds interesting!

I shall try it, but I'll keep the standard remedy handy, just in case... a nice big bowl of Menudo, extra spicy.

I've always heard an 8 ounce glass of water between alcoholic beverages will prevent the hangover.

of course i have always been way too busy slamming down alcoholic beverages to think about a glass of water. :?

The only one I've ever found that works is breathing pure oxygen for a minute or so. Never fails <<r

My usual remedy is to drink about 1/2 quart (1/2 liter) of my homemade sports drink. After analyzing the ingredients mine ends up with pretty much the same contents and it's dirt cheap.

Start with an empty 2 quart/2 liter soda bottle. Fill it halfway with water. Add (you probably want to use a funnel):

1 package of sugarless Kool Aid - This is just for flavoring and adds no nutrition.

3/4 teaspoon of Morton Lite Salt (or anything else with the same composition). This is 2/3 sodium chloride (salt) and 1/3 potassium chloride. This gives you your electrolytes - sodium, chlorine and potassium.

1/3 cup of sugar. You may want to experiment with the amount. You want to add just enough so it doesn't taste horrible but not sickening like Gatorade.

Shake it up. Fill the rest of the bottle with water and refrigerate it.

Where do you get pure oxygen anyway?

Diet coke works for me every time. Like Ozzy, I was a pure oxygen convert, but since having no more access to front line fighter aircraft I had to find another method. Although saying that the older I get the less I have to use said method. I think it is called growing up.........better late than never
