... to all of the First Responders, Volunteers, Rescue Teams, and the Colorado National Guard for their tireless work and effort, providing assistance to all affected by the Flooding in Northern and Northeastern Colorado.

The events of the past five days were epic in its scope, horrifying in its destructive power, and uplifting in its capacity to bring Coloradans together to help those less fortunate, and in need.

COLORADO PROUD.

I've been watching it, and reading about it daily, Dwayne!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24095893

Looked it up on Google Satellite Maps, and overflew the region in my Cessna in the Flight Sim.

Same problems now in Mexico...>>> http://web.orange.co.uk/p/news/video?pr ... id=1142205

I don't recall anything on this scale since the Big Thompson went so long ago. My prayers are with everyone out there...though I live in VT, I grew up in Colorado and I love her dearly.

That's what made this storm so EPIC... the Big Thompson went higher than in 1976! US Highway 34 going up the canyon is completely destroyed; there are only small sections of the roadway left.

Thanks for your thoughts, Steve!

Luckily, I live in the heart of Denver, and our rainfall really wasn't bad; it's the folks in the Foothills that really took the hit.

I'm just glad it's starting to dry out, and we'll see temps in the upper 70's and low 80's for the rest of the week.

Quote:
"Asked whether the extreme weather was the result of climate change, Patzert said it was impossible to say, but that he seriously doubted it."
"I think this is a matter of their founding fathers building in a precarious location and some intense meteorology," Patzert said."
End quote.

The same thought always crosses my mind every time I observe the loss and damage caused to to property and loss of life, during the annual Wildfires in California.
Houses built amongst trees and scrub is always a very bad idea!

The weeks to come will bring more stories of harrowing escapes and material loss... the big thing at this point is whether the Dept. of Transportation can achieve Gov. Hickenlooper's goal of having US 36 and US 34 repaired by Xmas!
