Really???
That may sound like a stupid question. You bought it. You installed it. And it does make FSX look better.
But reading the FTX Global reviews of some people, makes me think that FTX-G didn't install correctly on every computer out there. Some are even saying that "there wasn't enough change" to make it worthwhile.
I downloaded FTX Global at midnight of "day" one. And to me, it makes the world of a difference. (No pun intended)
Unfortunately, being smarter than the average bear*, I decided to reinstall FSX to get rid of accumulated errors.
A long story short, I finally got it fixed today, after almost a month, and with a great deal of effort.
The thing is that I KNEW what FTX Global should look like on my system, and what I was seeing after reinstalling FTX-G wasn't it.
I'm probably going to catch heck for over simplifying it, but here goes -
First off (as I understand it), FTX-G replaces the FSX scenery tiles/textures with MUCH better ones.
Second, FTX-G replaces the auto-gen buildings and houses. I think that it replaces auto-gen trees and bushes too.
Third, it replaces, or perhaps I should say it places, some "points of interest" and landmarks into FSX.
Over and over again, each time that I reinstalled FSX and FTX-G I got the same results. I was seeing the second and third of the trio, but not the first.
In other words - GREAT houses and building. And new landmark buildings that weren't there when FSX was created.
BUT NOW it's completely installed. I deleted the so called "backup" FSX scenery. There's no way I'd want to go back.
So my contention is that some of those saying that FTX Global doesn't make enough of a difference are, for one reason or another, only getting the second and third of the above trio.
Don't bother. As of right now there is no way to restore them EVEN IF you want to.

(* That's a reference to a childhood cartoon, Yogi Bear, who wasn't really as smart as he thought he was.)
