I'm so sorry you dont want to "hang out" with other old farts in here, on the music thread

All of that talk just reminded me of these songs.

I remember going to the Saturday matinee and watching black and white serials.

I'm even old enough to remember the Batman serials in the '50s when I lived in Weston-Super-Mare, England.
(The first person to guess what type of plane is in this eppisod will win a Yo Yo!)


You can't believe how totally disappointed I was when they made the '60s TV Batman and Robin series. I was probably the only one though.


They had a thing called "intermission". That was to give you a break from sitting on your butt and just watching a screen for a long time .

During the "intermission" they used to have Yo Yo demonstrations and contests.



I was a lot younger obviously.Here's what I looked like back then.


I'm not so purty now.

All these movies make us remember our kid times and that our lifes are going on and passing away very very fast without having a chance to go back to that what we think it´s important to us.........that´s the reason why we have to enjoy every moment with our family and friends being kindly to eachother.............

Growing up in my parents home; if you didn't love the Statler Brothers, you might as well sleep in the barn. Johnny Cash, Roy Clark, Don Williams, Jim Reeves, Ferlin Husky, and list goes on and on. That's just the country/blue grass side. Then there was the rock-n-roll side. The day Elvis died my mom played his records from sun up to sunset.

My paternal grandparents about drove me crazy with Lawrence Welk! But I did like big band music.....

I like all kinds of music - country and western.

But I'm really more likely to listen to something like this.

After playing in an orchestra for many years; classical is by far my favorite type of music.

It always amazed me how when you were performing the classics that you seem to become part of the music. Like the music becomes merged with your very soul and allows you to travel to a place of peace and beauty beyond my feeble ability to express. It's like it took on a life of it's own.

No offense intended. I just wanted to clarify this because those "savage breasts" he talks about can be very dangerous and they are known to travel in PAIRS!

It's easier to say what I don't listen to, than what I do like to listen to.

I'll listen to most anything, with 2 exceptions - Rap and opera.

By the way - I like your emphasis on the word and between Country & Western

To many people, they're one and the same.

And of the two, I'm more likely to enjoy Western music. Or the older Country music.

I didn't use the phrase in a quote format.

It wasn't referencing anything other than how I'd described the effect classical music had on myself.
