Decisions ? having trouble Deciding ??

Postby Jetranger » Sun Jul 28, 2013 6:37 pm

I'm having trouble making a Decision ??

I'm NOT sure what kind of New Aircraft to buy ??

Maybe I shouldn't, maybe, I should just continue to pay as I go on trips like normal people !

Since I can't Fly anyway really.

But the thoughts nice anyway !

Should I buy a Lockheed Constellation L-1049, or Lockheed Electra L-188 , or maybe a Boeing 707 or 727 ??

Maybe I shouldn't do anything, which will probably be the case !

Think maybe I should just go back out and mow grass, and forget about it, since it ain't goin to happen anyway, but it was a nice thought while it lasted !

But, I wanna I Wanna ~ http://www.powerball.com/pb_home.asp

Definitely the Connie.

It's not just an aircraft. It's a work of art.

I must say...
In all my daily 15+ years of Sim flying, I have never felt the overwhelming desire to purchase an; "Aeroplane"!

Default, and free-bee versions, have fulfilled all my worldly needs!

...and saved me loads of money to spend on other toys!... ...!

Paul... ...!

....3-off....Cessna 150 + Beech Baron 58 + Learjet 45.... :D ...!

Well about 90% of all those are FREEWARE, the other 10% is Payware, now I'm a Vintage type guy, so, I like the older Aircraft, rather it be props or Vintage Jetliners, such as the Boeing 707, 727 &737-100 & 200 series, so, I definetly wanted those puppies, Thank You Captain Sim !!!

For the props as far as Payware, I just love the Lockheed Constellation L-1049's and L-049's so, you guessed it I had to have Just Flights Constellations.

Then they came out with that DC6 and DC3 and well, I had to have those too and with 1 of those they threw me their Spitfire for Free .

I have 2 lionheart creations payware, the avilena and a small really cool private small jet.

and 1 boxed edition of the PMDG 747 Queen of the skies.

The WAR BIRD Sim P-51 Mustangs

A2A's Boeing 377's too I had to have.

FREEWARE : Literally aircraft loads of those,, in my hanger of all types, mostly Vintage type propliners from the 1940's 1950's 1960's 1970's era.

Jetliners, gotta love those Tin mouse 737's stages I & II.

and I'll never leave out anything from ol' Milton Shupe from any of this and any of his many wonderful aircraft !!!

Then we have the Great "ALROT", lord I can't prounce his name so, I just call him Alrot and his many fine Creations especially that Cessna Citation X he put out a while back.

Some of these Aircraft I copied and made an extra livery for, adding yet another aircraft to the list after I re-painted it in some fashion.

I've pulled Aircraft from all over the net from somewhere and added them to the sim and some I had to rework to get them to take, sometimes the CFG File entry would be wrong by 1 letter or something like that or a folder name off by a number or letter,,,

However, I do not keep all those aircraft in my Sim at once,, slows down the load up start time,,, I keep them in a very organized Folder and File structure according to what type of Aircraft they are, AWAY from the Simulator itself, like in a Fantasy Aircraft Hanger off to the side, when I want them I yank em' out, when i'm done they go back in their Fantasy Hanger.

I only keep about 40 Aircraft in the sim FSX at any time keeping all the default ones of course their dependent on each other as far as Guages, effects, etc.

Its taken me 2 years to acquire all these, wasn't done over night,, and NOT all of em' would work, so some got trashed after spending time trying to get them to work.

some of the port overs from 2002 & 2004 are the worst, tho the title may say their for FSX,, ya kinda gotta be careful and read between the lines with what your really getting and working with.

I coyuld never fly these types of AIRCRAFT I like to Fly in real life, and I'd never have that kind of money for those aircraft anyway, nor the great amount of land / property to erect such huge hangers to store all the ones I'd want nor the money for insurance and upkeep and fuel either - so this is the best for me,,, these Fantasy Flight Sim Aircraft that I spend hours upon hours flying or tweaking till sometimes 4am or 5 am in the morning and all day and all night too 7 days a week !!!

What else have I got to do ?? nothing !

I'm NOT married thankfully,, no kids.

Considering I spent over 20 years traveling all over the United States and Canada and a short stint over in the middle east as a driver hauling a 9000 gallon Tanker full of JT-8 Jet Fuel, all over the middle east while dodging bullitts and RPG's, I feel really really luck to be able to sit here on my Butt and do what I want to do for a while which is chill out and relax and fly Aircraft that i'd like to own, but will never happen.

I should show ya photos of my Tool boxes in my shop and all the automotive tools I have too and shop equipment I've got, that's another past time of mine,, workin on vehicles or Riding lawn mowers and Tractors !

I used to work for the other guy for over 30 years, I eventually gave up on that and started something myself on a whim,, Nope didn't get rich doin that either but I get by just fine, that and I sell mower parts and a few auto parts and Vintage Antiques on E-Bay often enough that I don't need to work .

took me over 12 years to be able to say I got to this point, wasn't an over night thing.

So how do I keep up with all those Airplanes - its simple - I don't my computer does !

I sleep late and work late, sometimes too late and play late.

Dats' my Story and i'm stickin to it

I have no ida why I still call myself JetRanger, when most of the time I Fly vintage Propliners ??

maybe I should call myself PropRanger ?? :shifty: ;)

Have a good Day' !

Trust me - ya don't want me to list all the Aircraft by manufacturers and types on here,,, I don't believe Simivations web site would be big enough to type all this info, that and nobody would wanna read it anyway - including myself ! :shifty:

I'll leave it to your imagination whatevers on this site and about 20 others, I've probably got it, but, only IF I like it and wanted it and it interests me and its old & Vintage !

I don't particularly care for all these newer " Tube~liners", they all kinda look the same, round Tubes with Big Beer Kegs hanging off the Wings and a 1/2 assed poorly designed paint schemes - Yuk - Boring - Dull !!!!

I'll happily take my Boeing 707's , 727's , Vickers VC-10's Convair 880's and Yes the Convair vintage propliners too for which I have many of those too !

Yes I'm Quite Picky about the Quality of Aircraft that goes in my FSX Simulator, I'm NOT particularly fond of Port overs from 2002 and "early" 2004's "supposedly" re-adjusted for FSX, most of the time my experience has been the textures might show up 1/2 way decent maybe,,,,, but upon close examination of the PANEL folder and its contents inside - the Gauges dates go back to 2001 - 2002 &1999 & 1998 which will NOT work in FSX ~ !!! Therefore it is NOT an FSX anything !!

I've been fooled more than once by misleading titles in the titles description.

Anyway most of the Aircraft I've pulled from most all these sites are actually fairly above decent now days, those Designers and creators are getting better and better - right ALROT and Milton Schupe and Jen Kristensen and Tom Tiedman and all the others who spend copious amounts of their time and effort designing and making these things for , "NUT-JOB" "Whacko's" ( that's me) to Enjoy till the weeee hours of the morning, and day and nite , and to repaint and tinker with and Fly to Endless Global Locations & Destinations, till we fall asleep & pass out, over our Flight Yokes and spill the coffee in the ol' lapo' and wake up and go to bed !!

Ok- I got to go and get ELVIS out of the Hanger fer some high Flyin !!!

Tally Ho' !
