Alive and well

I'm alive and well my friends! I have been working my way around the U.S. on my FS9 Journey as time permits, once I get the journey completed... I will share screenshots. Thus far... I've only made it to Temple, Texas with a total of 13.6 hours logged with Carenados C337 Skymaster for FS9. While my screenshots might not be epic or the greatest, they're telling a tale!

This month (June), I will have minimal time to "fly" as I'll be working 23 days out of 30. :-/

Interesting news, BE!

How about posting us your FS 2004 flight plans for your journey?...I/we can then accompany you on your flights, either solo, or Multiplayer!

(I occasionally do the Route 66 run/flight from Chicago to Santa Monica)

Paul... ...!

P.S....still waiting for you to join us on Multiplayer, BE!

I've been using GPS DIRECT, that way I can turn auto-pilot on and do things around the house, as each leg is usually about 2-3 hours. But, I always hand fly the taxi, take-off and landings. The journey consists of 'visiting' family and friends in the various regions. If you have a Facebook account Paul, you can add me as a friend... I have screenshots posted there. Here is my flight thus far;

KCCR (Concord, CA) to KSBP (San Luis Obispo, CA) to visit a friend
KSBP to KVGT (North Las Vegas, NV) for a day in Sin City
KVGT to KIGM (Kingman, AZ) to visit friends
KIGM to KTUS (Tucson, AZ) for fuel and lunch
KTUS to KROW (Roswell, NM) for fuel and sleep... and to see if I could spot any UFOs
KROW to KABI (Abilene, TX) to visit family
KABI to KTPL (Temple, TX) to visit friends

The next leg is from KTPL to KBPT (Beaumont, TX) to visit more friends, who left me behind last year to go work as paramedics there. Hopefully I can do this leg today or tomorrow.

Made a note of the route, BE... ;) ...!

Very familiar from Concord Buchanan!

After a swim in Morrow Bay (San Luis Obispo), from 'Vegas onwards, it looks very much like my Route 66 (Interstate 40) with an occasional detour on Interstate 10, trip!

Excellent flight plan!

I'll be on your tail in a Beech Baron 58TC/King Air 350!

Paul..FS 2004... ...!

On my tail? or running me over?! LOL... After Beaumont, TX I think I'll head over to New Orleans, LA for a visit and then onto Arkansas, Missouri, Illinios, Indiana, back to Illinois (Chicago area), Iowa, South Dakota (two stops, one to visit a friend and the second for a helicopter tour of Mt. Rushmore), Wyoming, Idaho and then back to California

Up to date with the latest news!... ;) ....

The only thing I find, after many years of daily touring the various States in the USA, and getting rather disappointed with the generally flat and monotonous scenery of the Eastern Seaboard, and even the Mid West; nowadays I rarely wander far from the exciting scenery of the Mountain and Pacific Coast scenery...which is why I spend so much time in California and the surrounding States!
...breath-taking scenery there...Microsoft got it right with the Autogen and terrain mesh in those areas...(see Google satellite maps for reference!).... ...!

Making my way through Colorado, above the road traffic (18-wheelers!) on I40!

I did my flight from KTPL (Temple, TX) to KBPT (Beaumont, TX), landed just a bit ago. I'm at 15.2 hours logged with 2.5 being actual instrument (according to FS9) but am using a Logbook on the iPad to track my hours... along with using FSKneeboard 2 for my charts and approach plates. I did purchase, download and install one of the scenery items you suggested (don't recall the name) and am using MyTraffic 2013 (which I had a problem with in FSX), but it can be installed for FS9 as well... haven't had any problems with it on the FS9 level.

Here we go, BE... ;) ...!

A heads-up on some of the fantastic add-ons for FS 2004, to compete with FSX!
A few more bits and bobs for you!

Freeware:

Gerrish Grey's Trees; (MS Trees 2.... Sim V).
Bernd's road textures (for stationary road traffic.....http://library.avsim.
Photo grass/Picnic (grass textures...fantastic at ground level!....Flight Sim/AvSim).
Terrain Mesh for selected areas (Stephen Rothsbergers? ...Sim V).
VOZ 1.8. (for wonderful seasonal colours)....>>> http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/fil ... -complete/
Nova Gold Textures (for Scenery objects with missing textures).

Plus lots of airfield, etc, stuff for California.

Payware:

All this will make your flights a real pleasure!

You're very welcome, BE!

After you have improved all the other scenery stuff, "Ultimate Terrain USA" (for FS 2004) is a definite must-have!
It shows all the roads, railways, waterways, coastal regions, etc, accurately as they appear in the Google maps....(much more accurate than the FSX Version of UT USA)...

..and the addition of "Bernds Road Textures" will add TRAFFIC to all the free-ways, etc!!

Its fun following the accurate roads and rail lines!

All sorts of useful stuff (mostly free) to improve the default FS 2004!

Paul.... ....!

P.S. ...BE....once you've settled down, you must ship me some photos of interesting places in Napa Valley, (I spend a lot of time there in the Flight Sim!)... ;) ...!

I think it was Ultimate Terrain that I bought... I will have to double check, but pretty sure that's what it was.
