and hopefully,, this will be read,,
I too had a father who was old up there in age, and I too had to call & check around to find him a retirement or assisted type living facility to live in , for his remaining years.
Several of these places I called wanted a Buy In,, type procedure,, where the occupant would put up anywhere from say 150,000 to 300,000 dollars to Move in,,, supposedly,, up front and that covers supposedly everything,,,
maintence
laundry
food / meals
Transportation
some medical stuff
in house enterainment
and the room / apartment to live in
They'll tell you , that when the person is Deceased, the next of kin, will get 90% of the money back refunded back to the next of kin.
NOT always the case - I reseached some of these, and many of the CONTRACTS state, they may NOT refund any money , after the person is deceased,, if the room / apartment is not Re-Rented back out,,, this they may try to use as a Ruse to keep the money.
Then theres the case with my Father who lived at a retirement community down by Table Rock Lake in missouri, and that owner wasn't paying the bills and the mortage on that Luxury community either, and they foreclosed on that property and gave all the old residents 3 weeks to move out,,,
but a court document I pulled up on line, showed that the owner knew for 6 months that he was in financial trouble, dated September /2011,,,
These kinds of places that these large up front Fees in advance are very very suspicious, and I would be skeptical of any of em' and I don't care how good their phony bull-shit sales pitch is !
Their out for 1 thing and 1 thing only, to get as much of the older folks money as they can,, anyway they can get it,,,
All their retirement
Pensions
Savings & checkings
IRA's
Stocks
money from the sale of all properties etc.
In the end, the relatives & kids will get NOTHING,, after the parent or relative passes away, it all went or goes to the crooks who either lived high on the hog or invested it in phony schemes, that never paid off !!
So, I'd advise DO NOT let any of your parents or relatives get SUCKERD' into these types of supposed retirement type bogus communities, and I don't care how well their staff is dressed or present themselves,,, its all a huge smoke screen and they can't be Trusted !!

Remember its up to us KIDS / Younger Generation to try Help Protect our parents & relatives as they get older,,,
Also, parents worked hard to leave their kids something when they pass on,,, so don't let the swindelers & con artists & crooks try to steal from your parents with Phony Bogus Bullshit, that your parents worked so hard for and really wanted YOU to have / inherit upon their passing,,,, NOT some crook or Con Artist !!!!
