to be honest, im glad of the gun laws in this country, there are enough mad people here as it is, without letting them run around with guns...
remember, the last guy who shot a burgler here ended up in the nick, so if im ever in that situation (which i hope im not!)im gonna leave the guns where they are, and use some good old fashioned fisticuffs!
its highly unlikely that a burgler in my neighbourhood would have a gun, and if they did have a knife i'd just use the baseball bat on them.
i have children and a pregnant g/f in my house, the guns are staying locked up!  ;)

land mines! Good stuff!

Metal bats and 30mm Mk108s are my style. Can't carry a mk108 though! lol.

An assault rifle is as silly as calling in a thousand-bomber raid on a home intruder (:D :D :D ;D). How do you kill someone without destroying something in the home!

don't worry he can't find the ammo...

*son cocks gun*

This isn't the time...

nor the place...

but what the heck...

LOL!!!!!! :D :D

not funny in a real life scenario though... :-/

I've managed to make my own sling, and have a bat..but no Mk108 yet though... :(

Please, by all means regale us with your vast knowledge in practical life experience and by all means, tell us of your years of military training. At 16 I'm sure your experience at these matters is truly staggering. Please forgive me for being foolish enough to think that my 50 plus years of life and 10 years of military service would qualify me to challenge your vast knowledge.

When did I imply that?  Just saying that throwing stuff like that around lessens your credibility (it's true ya know)-where did I mention my vast experience?  I have plenty of experience with people who try to pass themselves off as things that they're not, if that's what you mean-although again, I don't think you're bsing or anything.

I was actually trying to boost it Achilles-not call it into question.  Trust me, being more subtle about it adds believability ;)

Phew... quite a bite to chew on... Just one question.. regarding some posts a couple of pages back!  ;D

Some-one mentioned having a rather large gun-collection tucked away in a gun-safe. Richie I believe. I'd like to knwo what is the appeal in collecting guns. Not that I disaprove, just a question.

Is it the shape? The history behind them? the idea of owning the guns? Even Achilles says his AK-47 hasn't been moved or used for ages. It can't be for protection, cause I'd hardly believe the intruder will wait until you've unlocked your gun-safe, maintained and loaded the gun etc.

Two, what do these things cost anyway? I have NO idea... hence the question... hundreds of dollars... thousands? Depends on the model and type for sure, but please enlighten me.

and third, this thread made me look up airsoft guns! Man, those models are awsome! 1:1 scale and ultra realistic! Wouldn't mind collecting those!  ;D

Cheers,

Omag

My dad is a gun collecter also. Most of his large collection are reproduction muzzel loaders. Muzzel loading is something people do as a seperate hobby all together, it's more history related than gun related. Actually, I have a .50 cal muzzel loader myself, but I leave it with my dad. A few of his modern guns have some historical signifigance as well- A .38 special revolver that had once belonged to the Royal Hong Kong Police, and yet another .38 that was one of the few firearms produced and marketed exclusively to civilians during WWII. And then there are guns for hunting. I believe though, that the most part, people collect guns for the simple fact that they like them. I don't really know, as stated I don't have a collection, and only one in my actual possesion.

well... Over here most people would offer you just a coffee !!
;D

If I ever were in that situation, I'd really consider offering the burglar a coffee.
Methinks I'd run for the "nicest victim" award then.

LOL, I enjoy hunting and target shooting-but I don't go around making a big deal about it.  I have simply grown up around them and they are part of my families history.

My dad has 4 or 5, 2 .22s, one or two shotguns and i think a rifle of some kind.  These are mostly for "plinking" as we live on a farm.
