Dang! That sucker is really up there already. Already in space.

Said like 53m out, 3200mph.

Also said it was using 1/2 a ton of fuel per second!! Bad gas mileage I suppose.

MECO!

Oh right, SEP., Sorry again: Yes 816 gallons of fuel per second.

Saw it live. Great launch.

I saw a rather large piece of foam come off the external tank about 3min in the flight. The pressure might note be enough to cause damage as it was quite far up so the speed might not be that fast. Lets all hope there wasn't any damage. :-/

I swear that took a year off my life. I'm starting to like the ones when I'm at school better, so I already know what happens, but you need that feeling or it's just a movie I guess.

Very strange watching on the net. I hear "Lift-off of the space shuttle Discovery" and it's still sitting on the pad with some 30+ seconds to go. ;D Oh, how I do miss the satellite master feeds.

The sound was in line with my video on the internet when a thunderstorm warning came on the TV. ;D

Look good, great launch...unfortunately I didn't see the liftoff.  I was watching one of the live feeds from the JSC website and it cut out for a few seconds...and I missed liftoff and it didn't pick back up until after the shuttle had completed the roll maneuver and had began pitching.  But, thats OK...I've seen them before.

Hopefully they fix the toilet on the space station  :).

Yeah, hopefully.  Speaking of that...some of the people on another forum I'm on (about spaceflight) redesigned the mission patch to better represent the mission's goals.

Here is the actual STS-124 mission logo:

Here is their redesigned version:
