Well, "assault rifle" only means a rifle that uses an intermediate round (basically a bullet that is between a pistol and rifle size).

....mmmm....and over here in the UK you could say NOT owning a gun is as British as football (soccer to you)......just shows how different our two nations are on many things............commoner ;)

Although I'd like neither, being hit in the head with a soccer ball is preferable: depending upon the thrower, a baseball hitting the head can be deadly :o

Firearms are for wusses. Real men fight burglars with their hands.

of course most men fight burglars with their hands -- how else do they usually shoot? ::) ;)

My only firearms...fire crackers....and a Slingshot... ::) ::)

Cherry bombs from sling shots made a nice little pow. Dang, we were yet in grade school; what were we doing with those things :-/?

Bullets kill people.
And I have my Airsoft gun that can kill someone if you point it at their temple within a 10 foot radius. And if that dosen't work, a 38oz Louisville Slugger to the cranium should do nicely.

The butt of a gun (especially rifle) to the head can kill, as well. Also, an air rifle killed a 12-yr-old from more than 30' away: the pellet even went through a window 1st, then into his eye.

I think a cricket ball travelling at over 100 mph is even more potentially deadly.

Sorry, guys, I unintentionally hit the post in the middle of my typing ::), so you responded to my unfinished post.
I imagine a cricket ball (also batted) would be similar to a batted baseball (@ 115mph); a real good fastball pitcher can throw a baseball between 90 to 100 mph).

That's true here, as well, but they have to get within reach to do so.. move feet, move :P!

And here I was, trying to get some purchasing tips, and people have (somewhat) hijacked the thread to a political discussion.

Oh well, that's Simviation for ya. ::) ;)

For the record, all I do with firearms is just target shooting.  Never at an official range though.  They make you pay for a place to sit (practically), and you can only have one round in the magazine at a time!  Where's the fun in that?  Better to find a ditch out in the woods somewhere and bring some boxes along. ;D

btw stop throwing around how much training you have and weapon specs that could be gotten off google, each time you do it you're lessening your credibility-I believe you, I don't think you're making anything up, but just for future reference ;)

ps-dunno whether or not you were serious about using the ak on an invader, this post wasnt aimed at you in particular.

ya and if this is gonna get this locked just pm me and I'll remove it :)

Please, by all means regale us with your vast knowledge in practical life experience and by all means, tell us of your years of military training. At 16 I'm sure your experience at these matters is truly staggering. Please forgive me for being foolish enough to think that my 50 plus years of life and 10 years of military service would qualify me to challenge your vast knowledge.
;D

BTW, I did get the weapons info from Google, never said I didn't, never claimed that I'd gotten the info from memory, I just posted the info. I didn't feel like getting up and looking them up. After almost 30 years of civilian life, I can't remember every little detail.

I don't know much about baseball but cricket is the nearest British equivalent, not football (soccer). I assume a baseball is similar but the cricket ball is bigger, harder & heavier. Fast bowlers deliberately aim at all parts of a batsman's body & the best can bowl at up to 100 mph. Batsmen have been killed before now by being hit on the head with a cricket ball which led to the introduction of protective helmets, although these are sometimes not much protection. I have no idea how fast a cricket ball can be travelling if it's hit hard by someone like Ian "Beefy" Botham or Freddie Flintoff. Some fielders stand very close to the batsman, hence the expression "silly" for fielding positions in cricket.

The ball is headed in soccer which has been known to cause serious brain injuries similar to boxing.

PS. I checked the weight & dimensions which seem to be much the same. Shows how much I know about baseball. I always thought the cricket ball was harder. A new cricket ball has the consistency of a cannon ball.

Home invader or not, what does God say/think if you kill someone?
"Oh, its ok, he was a home invader anyway, no loss."
                             ?

Its been talked about that "what about children?" "oh, surely they couldn't get hold of it, cos it would be out of reach!" That logic is flawed.
Has anyone seen the film "Unbreakable" ? If so, you may remember when the child confronts his father, with a gun.
Father: "Where did you find that?"
Son: "Under the bed."
Father: (to wife) It's ok, he doesn't know where the bullets are.
Son cocks gun.

See where this leads?

In the end though, the statistics behind how many homeowners who try to defend their homes with a gun end up dead are a bit too much-I mean, what the hell is an AK gonna do?
