I know that a great many of you think that I should be on some kind medication.

Don't deny it! I know it's true. EVERYBODY is talking about me! Even bugging my phone and secretly taking pictures of me while I sleep!

I ain't paranoid!

But on to a more serious discussion.

If you click onto the links below you'll see a troubling report.

Warnings Against Antidepressants For Teens May Have Backfired

Apparently, the US Government issued warnings and decided that there should be a "Black Box" warning on antidepressants because it thought that they increased suicide attempts for the young people taking them.

From NBC
A so-called “black box” warning on antidepressants that the medications increase the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in kids may have had a horrible side-effect. New research finds the warning backfired, causing an increase in suicide attempts by teens and young adults.

From the Washington Post
Government warnings a decade ago about the risks associated with children and adolescents taking antidepressants appear to have backfired, causing an increase in suicide attempts and discouraging many depressed young people from seeking treatment, according to a study published Wednesday in the academic journal.

Pretty much all of the stories that I read blames that "black box".

NOW. The FDA has decided that the original problem affected only a very small percent of the young patients taking the anti-depressants. And a larger number of kids are attempting suicide because they aren't taking the medicine.

STOP AND THINK

So lets look at this for a moment. A depressed 19 year old gets an anti-depressant prescription. The prescription bottle has a "Black Box" warning on it.

Sure. That kid may decide that he's depressed, BUT he isn't crazy enough to take the medication!

So sometime later, BECAUSE he didn't take the medication, he decides to kill himself.

Maybe, even kill himself and others. Who knows.

This is the scenario that the news media is reporting.

On the contrary, I think that it isn't the depressed kids fault.

I'm willing to bet that it's "Our" fault - i.e. our societies fault.

Lets' play this scenario - A doctor wants to prescribe a useful anti-depressant for a young person.

True, a very small number of patients have a problem, but the doctor does follow ups, and tells the patient (or their family) to watch for side effects.

Then the FDA says that some patients (AGAIN, a very small number) may become suicidal when on these medications.

Then the FDA says that if the medicine is prescribed, the pill bottle must have a very noticeable warning on it about it causing suicides.

The law of unintended consequences.

If you were a doctor - Would you dare to prescribe that medication?

Probably not. Why risk lawsuits. Why risk your reputation. Why risk your license to practice medicine!

You'd prescribe something else. Maybe something a little less effective, but something that doesn't have the FDA warning label on it.

So suicides are up among young people. Do you really think that it's because they aren't taking their medication? Or that they aren't being prescribed the more effective medication?

From the BBC

What is a supermoon and where could it be seen?

Anyone want to guess?

A) In a closet
B) A cave
C) A cinema
D) On a wedding cake

If you can't decide which one of these is the best answer, ask a five year old.

Here we go again.

I'm beginning to think that it's time to start neutering some people.

Alleged phone thief calls 911 because victim won’t leave her alone

A suspect accused of stealing a cell phone called 911 to report her alleged victim for harassment, ....

...

When he accused them of taking his device, he reported that the couple began punching and kicking him and then ran off the bus. He followed them, and the boyfriend ran away
while the woman paused to call 911.

....

She was arrested and taken to King County Jail for investigation of robbery as well as for allegedly possessing three grams of crack.

I guess that the last part explains it.

She's not stupid, she was just on crack.

Didn't you know, Jet, that in the Government, every person rises to their highest level of incompetance and remains there. Much like the Pentagon, where Generals acheive the same effect...That's why we always always start every conflict by fighting the previous war, then catch up about 1/2 way through. A lot of good men die that way, buuut...

How is this supposed to work?

Woman stole wine to follow boyfriend to jail, police say

Alicia Walicke, 22, was charged with theft. Police found her Wednesday next to a Shell gas station drinking a $3.99 bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 she had just stolen from the station, the warrant said.

For those wine connoisseurs unfamiliar with MD 20/20, let me suggest that you hurry out to buy a few bottles in assorted flavors.

Image

As to that bottle coasting $3.99, lest me remind you that prices are usually doubled in those "convenience" stores.

More than likely you have enough change under the couch cushion to buy a couple of bottles.

AND then

Along the same amorous line, we have another sweetie who wanted to spend some quality time with the love of her life.

Florida woman has 11th booking photo taken after alleged assault on grandmother

A Florida woman wanted to spend the night with her husband in a hotel but didn't have the money. So police say she assaulted, burglarized and stole jewelry from her 84-year-old grandmother.

What a future we have to look forward to when, sooner or later, these babes will start bringing up their own children. :puke-right:

OK! So I will, on occasion, buy something used on amazon. It all depends on what it is and how much of a discount I can get.

With VERY rare exception, I will ONLY buy used if Amazon stands behind it though.

A while back I got a great deal on an SSD. If it had turned out bad, big deal, Amazon would send me a free shipping label in an email and then refund my money when they got it back.

Now, when you buy from another private seller, that isn't necessarily what happens. YOU will probably have to pay for the shipping. IF they'll even take it back.

I don't think that this seller is stupid, just ignorant. We're all ignorant and un-educated in some things. That's normal

All in all, I simply think that this one is funny.

Image

I wonder what part he's talking about?
Image

Is anyone rushing to Amazon to buy it?

Save some money. You could make your own clamp, or just use some duct tape.

If I had my way, the word FAIR would be banned from usage.

Why? Well, obviously, it was a word that these two geniuses' grew up with.

And fair is fair, Right?

It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, famous or unknown - fair is fair.

Well these two guys were going about their usual business when they were fired upon.

Now lets avoid the whole gun business, and stick to the facts - There was a guy who took unfair advantage of these guys, so they had every right to call the police in.

Image

Violent Home Invaders Call Police to Complain About Victim

"Two men called cops when another man began shooting at them."

Reportedly, they brought a baseball bat and several aggressive dogs with them. They allegedly attacked the homeowner, causing damage to his head, face, and back.

The victim managed to grab a shot gun and fire into the air, sending the men fleeing.

They then apparently ran into a nearby residence and called police to report that a guy was shooting at them.

It's tragic that stories like this are so common.

If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.

I find an excellent way to observe the utter stupidity of a predictable, certain range of people (they all look the same), is to tune in to; 'Bait Car' on the U.S. 'CBS Reality Channel'...!

http://www.cbsreality.tv/uk/shows.php?title=Bait+Car

The typical entrants, (just watch out for baseball caps, floppy tee-shirts, floppy shorts, trainers, and swaggering walk), and the final outcome can be guaranteed every time....It never fails!.... ....!

I spend my time counting down the time taken from leaving the Bait Car trap, to the miscreant(s) deciding to steal it and drive away....

I mostly count in seconds!.... :D ...!

It could be depressing if it wasn't so amusing....including the lame excuses given!.... ...!

The ultimate in brainless stupidity.

I wonder how the U.S Jails are big enough to contain them all!

Paul.....Having had my beloved Honda CBR 600FM Motorcycle stolen by toe-rags...I love to watch 'Bait Car' and see the thieving sods squirm...and get jailed!.... ...!

I wonder if I could start a reality TV show -

No. I guess not. :(

There'd be too many complaints from the animal rights people about feeding the sharks.
