Can't blame type knowledge on this one (as was the case with a similar incident in russia)...

....yes, I think I saw that one too...fortunately he only suffered from broken bones.

Poor guy...

It's a funny old do, but I've never considered breaking bones a very fortunate past-time...
Painful, yes...fortunate, no...!

I try to avoid it at all costs, on my bike... :o...!

...although, it must be said, riding pillion on the back of Fozzers super-bike is sometimes considered to be a more dangerous/lethal occupation than that of poison-tasters...

Beware that low-slung engine...  :-/
Gotta wonder how a professional forgot that... perhaps there wasn't proper communication as to when the spool-up was going to start, and the crew could not see him.
Horrible.
Re: the guy going "through" the A6 engine: I believe his little journey took him through the bypass area around the (internally mounted) engine- had he hit the compressor, he would've been as dead as the mechanic mentoned above.

Blimey...!
That's handy to know that there is an alternative, safer route to travel as you get sucked through a jet engine...

...I must remember that...:)...!

Paul...with my Bypass Map of jet engines... 8)...!

Is there an alternative escape method to getting sliced in half by a whirling propeller...?
... ;)... ;D...!

I suspect you doubt me... as well you should.;D
I was just hunting around for more info, and found a conflicting explanation: his helmet got sucked in first, destroying the blades, which allowed him to pass through more or less intact.

Sadly, no... unless you have impeccable timing and are very, very skinny. ;D
What's really gruesome about prop strikes is that the leading edge is not sharp at all: one sort of gets bludgeoned very rapidly.  Like getting whacked with a piece of pipe, only at several hundred mph (I'm assuming you've been hit with a pipe before, hence the analogy ;D)
Fingers and hands usually come off pretty neatly, but I've heard of people just strolling into the prop and taking a blade or two on the head or shoulder... errrgh... send for a mop...
:-X

It's the "more or less intact" part which worries me...::)... :'(...!

I heard about this one guy who actually survived being sucked in to an A6 engine... just kidding.

Yeah, well my point was, with a 737, it's a good 15-20 seconds from the time the first rush of bleed air (which is very audible) is applied to the engines to get them started until the engine fires and spins at a dangerous speed.
