You only have to ask Green Peace about the french using real force. ;D That still makes me laugh after all of this time.

These riots are more or less the same as those just over 20 years ago here in the UK, with rising unemployment and poor conditions in the cities.
Mainland Europe is only just experiencing the same conditions..... and the same result.
Give it another few years and things will change hopefully for the better.

I'm not so sure about that. I know that I wouldn't wish to tangle with the French riot police. They're nothing like Inspector Clouseau or the stereotypical gendarme*.

*PS. They're frightening enough. Ask my brother.

The "White Mice" or South Vietnamese Police of the Vietnam War era were completely ruthless. If you wanted to get through Saigon fast, have them lead the way. If people didn't get out of the way fast enough, they'd be run down or shot. The incredible torture they employed on detainees was beyond belief! They were quite literally on par with the German SS in every way possible. To say they were feared by all of the indigenous people would be a gross understatement.

I'm sorry for laughing at your comment, but "Depends" is also a brand of adult underwear for people suffering from incontinence - i.e. adult diapers.

Hmmm... I haven't seen anybody talking about the reason the news gives us. Apparantly the people are p'ed off because 2 kids wery electrocuted in a transformator house while hiding from the police. Ofcourse this can't be the real reason for the riots, but it was the spark that ignited the chaos.

I'm not sure if anyone has ever been to the "burbs" of Paris. I was there on a school trip about 4 months ago and it was one of the scariest environments I've ever been in. We were even affraid to get out of the bus.
When we pulled up in front of the hotel we saw a man get mugged.  :o

How can you live in constant terror in a Western city? It's just not right. The people there have every reason to be angry. The pressure was rising for too long and now it has exploded in one big wave of anger. It's time for the the French government to face the situation, instead of turning it's back to it.

So once again kids running from the police. So they must have done something wrong in the first place. if they wernt so stupid as to run in the first place they would have never gotten hurt. Heres the thing people, the police are there to arrest those who commit crimes, and to keep the peace. I know many seem to have forgotten that concept but its true. ::)

You clearly have no idea of what the Parisian police is like to the residents of those quarters... ::)

Personally dont care. In most cases they give as good as they get. Beats a police force who bend over and unclench like most do here. ::)

Well, this riot is getting me a little concerned because if the riot continues to spread around Europe, how long do you think it will be before copycats start doing the same thing here in the states?

Think about it.
