I also been noticing trends of remakes this summer. They are even remaking The Poseidon Adventure.

Although I think the video game business has more original ideas. Its a whole new entertainment sector with fresh concepts. Then even when you make a remake, it does not really get ruined by bad acting or scripting.

Another thing to consider is this...

Is the industry REALLY failing?  I mean, come on....War of the Worlds opened with over $60,000,000...if fifteen million dollars a day is a slump, we're all living in poverty.

They are going to do herbie again too...

And as i think i am not the kind of person that likes Bollywood films (not much of them in the regular theatrees anyway), i better put my two starwars boxes through the DVD player until something better arrives.

Not that I think that the movie industry is failing. I just think that its going dry with ideas. Not that it of a concern, but its a thought that occurred.

That thought is connected to other thoughts about society. Particularly around the idea of consistency.

Hollywood is not willing to take risks right now...

I think these things go in cycles.

Of course, things have changed (DVD players, Video Games).

movies are becoming more complicated, so the average bumkin' jus' don' un'erstand, yuh gittin' me boyee?

No not really.  DVD's are hurting the movie industry.  Easier to buy them 6months after they are released than to pay more money in the theaters for movies they dont like

I agree. Half-Life 2 is the best movie (and yes, I mean movie) I've ever played.
