Most annoying thing about Cell Phones?

I have one, and mainly use it to communicate with friends from school who would otherwise be long distance. I only call after 9pm when I have unlimited minutes and long distance... ;-)

My phone can do the text mesaging, and of course it can take pictures as well.. :-) Do I use these futures? Heck no! It takes less time to call someone than it does to type something on the phone! ;)

The phone is completely off during any classes, meetings, but left on vibrate while just working, only a few people have my number, and these people know when I work, and they know how to leave me a message. If it does ring I'll look and make sure it isn't someone from home with an emergency, but other than that I only take calls/place calls on break if needed.

Worst thing I have found is when people are driving and not paying attention to the road, this is how my sister was in her last accident, because the other person was talking on the phone and ran a red light....  :-X And of course there are all of those people who have pulled out in front of me and caused excessive wear on my brakes...:(

Under no circumstances will I ever use my phone while driving, partly because it is hard to change gears whilst talking on the phone, but mainly because it is too distracting. I don't think I would even use a phone whilst driving if I had one of them hands free thingys....;)

Cell phones are pretty usefull but can be annoying.  I have to have one for work.  I'm the closest one to the farm if something goes wrong (which is quite often.)  Im on call 24/7 unless im at school.  If im at a movie i try to sit  in the back rows and turn my phone to vibrate...I have caller ID so i wait till it stops going off and open it to find out who it was...Anything important i just excuse myself out and call them back outside the theater.  People just think im going for popcorn or something ;)

Unfortunatly i took the other quiz and i have a severe case of technology rage...But i can agree to that...Things eather work or all hell breaks loose :P

I hate the things and don't carry mine unless I have to...

I second that opinion. Unfortunately I get a lot of my service calls on the cell phone so I must be harnessed to one of the damned devices or I don't eat or buy goodies for my flight sim.

What really amazes me is the number of people I see talking without end on the things. I once followed a car on the interstate for almost two hours and not once did the person put the phone down or even punch a new number into the thing.

First of all how do people afford to talk like that? Second how the he!! can they find something to talk about with one person for that long.

Most of my cell phone conversations consist of taking down a name, address and a promise to be there in 30 minutes. Only time I paid for extra minutes beyond my free minutes was when my mother was in the hospital with a stroke and expected to die.

This is a rhetorical question if the person is female...;)

I don't own a cell phone and don't really see the need for one.  Every once in an odd while it could come in handy, and have been considering getting a prepaid.  Hopefully something without all the gadgets.

I've always seen loud people on cells as an indicator of yourself.  You can stare at them and listen to their whole conversation, and for the most part be entertained for free, or you can get mad.

Cell phones are great, but like most things, they've been abused.  Particularly with over use and all the unnecessary gadgets.

Typical cell phone conversation:

So...  what's up?

Nothin'.  You?

Nothin'.

Why did calling ever even become necessary at this point? ::)

I don't know what it's like in other parts of the world but these mobile phones are very popular among young children in the UK. More than that, a necessity. It's like a fashion accessory & they must have the latest type. There have also been cases of children being mugged for their mobile phones. I realise they can be very useful in emergencies but I've seen groups of children walking on opposite sides of the road chatting to their mates - on their mobiles. :o Goodness knows what their parents phone bills are like. They could easily cross the road & have a proper conversation. ::)

There is still some dispute over mobile phones being a health risk, especially for young children. Nobody seems to know one way or the other. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1436543,00.html

PS. Can someone explain to me why these things are called cell phones.

Mostly because the technology is all dependent on the cellular towers and their operable areas, which when plotted out on a map, I think create little cells which looks a bit like a bee hive.

In the US I can testify it's a problem, but not so much a fashion statement.  You "need" to have one, but as long as it's fairly recent, it good enough.  I personally, if I did get one, would prefer a very old, basic one, so I could perchance bypass all those viruses.  There's just something wrong with the statement, "Dang it!  My phone has a virus!" ::)

Thanks Skorp. That would make sense I suppose.

I find this interesting.
The number of mobiles in Britain has doubled to 50 million since the first government-sponsored report in 2000. The number of children aged between five and nine using mobiles has increased fivefold in the same period.

The population of the UK in 2002 was around 60 million. Assuming that some of these are babies unable to speak this means that everone in the UK must have one of these things. Foz & I don't have one so it must mean that some people have more than one.
