Shoreham  :o :o When i was on holiday in Brighton a few years back i was desperately trying to think of/find a biggish airfield in that area, now i know one  :)

anyway what kind of planes fly from Shoreham? im guessing its kind of fairly light, maybe inter-city turboprops?

O-kay, well it ain't that big! You'd probably get a passenger turboprop in and out.

Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona.  One of the country's busiest small airports.  Built in 1941 for the purpose of training British and Canadian pilots in WWII.  The airfield has a smll park with a memorial plaque where the officer's club used to be.  When I was a kid back in the 60s I remember seeing the old hulks of trainers (T-6s and some twin engine types) in a scrapyard across from the airfield.  Things would be worth a fortune today.  I work at the Boeing plant next to Falcon Field and see all kinds of interesting aircraft on a daily basis.

Happy flying,

Jim

My closest is Rosecrans Memorial airport (KSTJ) in St. Joseph MO. Ill be taking my flying lessons from Rankin Field in Maryville MO, because it costs a lot less there, and is ran almost exclusively for training. Its family owned and operated too. I dont remember the code for Rankin off the top of my head.

My home airport is Middle wallop army base. I grew up there and lived there for a total of 10 years. However my local airport is Birmingham international.
Could those who insist on using codes also include names as i dont know them all off the top of my head and dont have the patience to go hunting. Thanks guys ;)

My local AP is KLNA, Palm Beach County Park or Lantana Airport. It is a GA only AP but is quite busy and is a lovely place to "hang out". There was a P-51 mustang there on Sat. (it even did a low pass!) and there are quite a few old&rare A/C there.

As a pilot I currently don't have a "home' airport, but might be adopting one soon.
As far as nearest airport to where I live, why it's just lil' ol' KEWR, just down the road apiece.
