Jordanj,

Ah yes... mass transit in the USA.  Currently a total joke.  Mass transit is not in the interests of "Big Oil" here in the USA.  Arrrrrgh.  Hard to stay off politics here  ;).

I have traveled in Japan a lot.  Their mass transit is an AMAZING thing.  They move an astounding number of people every day.  Japan LIVES by the train.  You can get pretty much anywhere from anywhere using trains.  And the trains are clean, safe, and punctual to a fault.

Train travel in Japan is a pleasure.  it is not cheap.... but then neither is car ownership.

If the mark on the floor says door 6 of car 7 will be there at 6:03 AM......... between 6:02:50 and 6:03:05 that door will open directly in front of you.  You can set your watch by the train arrival and departure.

The US could learn a lot by studying what they do.

best,

....................john

Try riding one in the winter.

No problem,if there is no ice on the streets.

As a matter of fact, I ride a bike as ofter as I can...the other problem is that car drivers (and especially SUV drivers) don't seem to think they have to acknowledge bikes...it gets dangerous.

One of those should help:

Gas in and around the St Louis, MO area has been hovering between $2.039 and $2.159 for premium high test 93 octane (which my car requires), so not sure about regular or plus. Plus tends to be about 10 cents less than premium and regular tends to be 10 cents less than plus.

It is also hardly practical when you have to drive a long distance for groceries or for taking kids to school...(hence, my suggestion for mass transit)...

That may work better for the cities, but the town I live in doesn't have public transportation, not even a single taxi cab ;)

Here in Northern Michigan, we get plenty of ice...

And as for that cannon, how am I supposed to handle the recoil from that on a bike?! ???

Hard to have a set price around here...Depends on the day, time, and station around here.  Lately its been around $1.95 and $2.10 a gallon.  It changes 5 to 10 times throughout the day :o  Busy times like during rush hours it will be around $2.07, after it will slowly drop to around $2, then as the next rush hour aproches it goes back to $2.07 or.08, and if you wait till 1 AM you might find it down to $1.95.  Rather redicalous considering they only fill the main (underground) tanks maby once or twice in a 2 week time >:( >:( :-/

Isn't there some kind of political unrest going on in Venezuela (one of the thing contributing to higher oil prices...along with the larger numbers of SUVs, increase in vehicles in China and India, the war in Iraq, etc.)?

Hmmmm well yesteray premium 93 octane was $2.039 per gallon.

Then this morning it was to to $2.399 per gallon

THIRTY SIX FREAKING CENTS INCREASE OVERNIGHT??????

Good freaking thing I filled my car up last night. Was $30.00 to fill up last night too, which is the first time I have hit the $30 fillup mark.

Gas station employees need to hire fulltime price sign changers as much as the damn prices yo-yo in this country. Its freaking NUTS!
