Let's keep this place unique. A little virtual haven where we can leave the worries of the world behind for a while. ;)

Exactly. I mentioned escaping reality early on, but people were busy arguing ::)

When I'm tired of worrying about my car expenses, bills, taxes, work, ect. It's nice to go someplace where I can forget about it all, and not have to worry about someone attacking my religious and\or political beliefs.

Let's keep it a place to escape reality ;)

I think people need to remember this isn't an American site.  Even if it was, it is a slice of internet owned by a person (Good Sir Pete ;)), not by America.  It is therefore a dictatorship.  If he decides to allow freedom, so be it.  If not, well then tough noodles. ;) Just because you're American, doesn't mean anywhere you go you're going to get your Bill of Rights.  If you go to North Korea territory, you're going to have to play by their rules.  If you venture into Pete's territory, you're going to have to play by his rules. ;)

The media in the UK force feeds you politics, you can't escape it. The day politics is allowed here, I'd have to run as fast as I could........  ;)

Plenty of political forums, go find one, PLEASE don't come back & tell us about it!  ;D

"The often internally conflicting interrelationships among people in a society."

So if you wanted to really get nit picky, if politics in a whole was banned, these forums would not exsits!
All in all when you have a place that allows open discusion where people can place thier views and opinions, debates are bound to happen, which in all sense is political.
I agree you disagree= politics.
To start a topic with a poll= politics
The site is governed by specific rules= politics
and on and on....

So either way you look at it a forum is a place of politics so obviously can't be banned, or it would not exsist.

Now before the backlashing starts, I understand exactly what the specific rules of these forums are so I don't need a lecture on them just wanted to give you something to ponder

If you want to discuss politics, there are no shortage of forums for doing so...

If you take a look at some of what gets posted there (name calling, comments about someone's mother, etc.) you may understand why such subject are not allowed here.

Any discussions in the past about politics caused friends to argue and people's views of others got distorted. It was sad to see people who regularly converse start accusing other's of different things because of their political view. Threads were getting hot and needed to be locked regularly. Pete started a Poll asking what we all thought about a "No Politic Forum". The vote was unanimous. Seems nobody wanted to talk politics in a forum for Flight Sim enthusiasts. Like many have said before, I don't come here to discuss my country's political views on world affairs. I come here to kick back, talk shop, have fun and take my medication!  ;D

& just in case anyone is wondering

1. - we have a FRIENDLY policy here. It's a positive suggestion rather than a negative 'rule'

2. We don't BAN politics but it is highly discouraged. Politics like religion has a way of putting common sense aside & bringing out the territorial, heart felt , instinct within us - which is always aimed at competition & segregation. We all have it - it's human. Like a lot of human/animal things - it's best kept away from here -
