Hi Larry

Had a drink or two with a couple from the United Stated today. Wonderful couple they were, they are on their way home through the inland waterway.

Now several Royal Canadian Legions visit the United States Legion once or twice a year and vice versa by bus tours.  They are called twins or something, I forgot the name but when I go in for the meat rolls on Friday I shall look on the board.

Our Legion buildings are called Legion Halls with a Branch number.

They informed us that the American Legions are called Posts with a number.

Now I thought that a Post was a military establishment and if it had an American Legion that would be the name of that Legion but that is not always the case as the military establishment might take the name of the city or town and there could be several legions there.

I know of four Royal Canadian Legion Halls in Toronto and I know there are more so I am sure the American cities are much the same.

So what I gather is a Post is what we would call a Branch here if that sounds correct.

Yes Doug, I think they call them Posts. We just called it the Legion Hut for as long as I can remember. But the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) was always just the VFW. I always preferred the Legion Hut.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
