Cigar anyone?

I smoked Cigarettes, in moderation, for about 35 years.

What finally killed it for me was when my children used to hang their heads out of the Car window to avoid the choking smell, and I realised that the ceilings and walls in my house were covered in dripping yellow stains, and my house furnishing and clothes stank of Nicotine smoke...

....and Folks used to prevent me from entering their houses if they suspected that I smoked!

I switched off completely overnight, (will-power!) in 1990, and haven't touched the dreaded weed for 20+ years now!

I now have my Lungs, and sense of smell and taste back now!

I haven't smoked since my birthday in January 2006. It took me over 50 years to quit the habit.

Just today I smoked with a friend for their first time

I would never encourage anyone to smoke even before giving it up myself. The best advice I can give you is not to start in the first place. Quit now while you have the chance.

PS. I've been lucky so far but don't fool myself. As a heavy cigarette smoker for most of my life any damage to my health has already been done.

Don't try & tempt me Paul. A smoke goes nicely with a pint down the pub but it doesn't worry me now. I can feel sorry for the poor sods having to go outside in all weathers for a quick puff. ;)

I had to suffer the same indignity years ago when I visited my Daughter and her family...

I was told to go and stand outside, in the depths of Winter, in the cold and rain, if I wanted to smoke a bloody Fag!.... >:(...!

I finally got fed up with having to do that.....another reason to pack it in... ;)...!

Paul.... :)...!

P.S. I also had to remove my shoes, before treading on the carpet!... :-?.... a pair of Slippers waiting for me at the front door!.....;D....!

Well, you don't have to worry about my friend. They didn't like it and already smoked no more then once a week anyway.

As for me, I've found it to be fairly relaxing but will defiantly keep everyone's advice in mind. I know its not good for me but the fact that I don't inhale and have one a month at the most really doesn't worry me that much.  However, I will save it for big occasions and wont be doing it just to do it any more.

Really didn't expect the response I got though, I know people are against cigarettes but I've never heard people react to cigars as you have. Makes sense, just didn't expect it.  ;)

managed apt. bldgs for 20 years.....and getting rid of those horrific tar drippings on the walls was a very expensive for the landlord, and a disgusting ordeal.....had to stop renting to smokers...but some lied to me, so i had to add it to the lease....the only way to get rid of them...(sorry smokers)....but now i probably would want to get rid of myself if i smoked... :)....am 69....quit when i was 28......now that i remember....smoking always gave me a depressed feeling in my stomach, or solar plexus .....but, come to think of it...i wonder if eating salt and sugar is worse :)

Definite defiance in this situation does not bode well. Such advice tends to go up in smoke. :'(
