Permanently switched on?

On a workday when I am in school my computer is off for about 15 hours. I keep it on when I am at home so i can have quick access to information in whatever form it is stored on.

I used to leave mine on 24/7 regardless of being home or not...but after sitting here one night when the power supply quite literally blew up I changed my habits

I leave it on while I'm home and in the house.

I usually turn mine off when I'm not using it, but if I cannot be bothered turning it off, it stays on. In winter I keep it on sometimes cause it heats my room up.

There are times when I cant stand the howl of the six Fans whirring away inside my Desktop Case... ....

..then I switch it off.... ...!

The old girl and I turn our computers off when not in use.

They both only take seconds to turn back on, there are days neither is on.

When I get back from school, I turn on my PC from about 3-11pm, and turn it off by the mains at home. When I'm out, I usually run a virus scan or defrag. I think the mains switches are usually on, with the tv in standby.

Hi Paul...

Probably should have said upgraded to a 220 Volt service as now I have no problem running equipment like an electric welder, power washers, battery charger, power generators

According to Wikipedia Canada has a dual voltage system.

...I keep forgetting that Doug lives North of the thin blue line that separates the USA from our Colony (Canada).... ...!

...why do I keep thinking that everyone who lives outside of Great Britain, must live in the US of A?... ... ...!

...My 1960's House was re-wired a few years ago to replace the (dangerous!) re-wireable Fuses with Automatic Circuit Breakers..and Earth Leakage Trips.
The cable colours were also changed to Brown, Blue and Green, from the previous Red, Black and Green.
