We thought of tying some shoes to our vehicles with the soles facing outwards, but the chain of command didn't think it was very funny.... ;D

To bad our time in service never crossed..................we could have got in all sorts of trouble ;D ;D

As a world leader, he should have realised this and saying a while later, "So what if a guy threw his shoe at me?" shows little understanding of the whole incident and feelings of some people in Iraq.

That was 100% intended.. he's been to Saudi Arabia enough to know about the 'shoe insult' stuff

I was amazed someone did that.
Do these people even think before they do there actions? Its crazy. I mean I imagine he will be in lots and lots of trouble for throwing a shoe from his anger. and his mission wasn't successful so now he's probley even madder

It was a well planned stunt and the guy will be free in a few days unless maliki wants to catch another pair himself

Bush is well-versed at being shooed; the Iraqis need to know the old regime is gone and understand the new one will be what they make of it.

Isn't this thread getting a bit to political? ::)

Maybe so, but nobody's fighting over political views and opinions....

Maybe we could have a shoe fight this year instead of the traditional snowball fight?

Anyway, to GW, the shoe thing isn't much of an insult, so the meaning of the attack was a bit pointless, the attacker would've got a better reaction if he'd just stood up & done a few 'yo mamma' jokes.
