OK, i was gonna tell you to grow up...but seeing as you are 39 that might not be totally appropriate  :P

Take a look at the world around you, the suffering, the poverty, the pointless death ... & you are getting all upset about some old boat. I mean, tragic...Ozzy won't get to take a picture of his daughter standing next to it...wow

According to UNICEF 30,000 children die each day due to poverty... You really need to get your ignorent priorities straight Matt.

Can see where you're coming from, but TBH, I really don't want to hear about all this awful stuff every single day of my life. I'd be a nervous wreck if I got upset about everything that's wrong with the world!

I still think its disgusting that this is front page news when you consider all of the real problems in the world. Its a shame, but it really doesn't matter!

You seem to have not noticed that "the news" is actually intended as entertainment.  Items which make headlines are deemed to be those which will sell the most papers, not those which mean the most to the reader.  If the news was about informing people about important things it would be about tort law and economics (and other boring topics that have a suprisingly large impact on daily life).

If it does not really matter then maybe we should get rid if Duxford for example, just full of old bits of tin and some dusty history stuff ::)

Yes, please! Especially the Spits & Lancs!

I have seen more, and cried more over things that I have had no choice in the matter to see in this world LIVE, not on TV or whilst playing some first person shoot em up on a play station. Whist you where still running around the play ground playing cowboys and Indians and playing dead, I was, courtesy of the last two leaders of "our" country having to look at the dead, not just in hot sandy places, there are other corners of the world where atrocities happen too, so when you have seen it with your OWN eyes, then you start lecturing me on growing up and being ignorant (spelt with an "a" by the way). Until then, just be happy that your mother still makes your bed, and cooks you dinner each night and that you only have to watch all this stuff from the comfort of your favorite chair with your feet on the coffee table surrounded by your self indignant righteousness.

Please do ellaborate...not trying to pick holes, honestly genuinely interested!! Where have you actually been/what did you do? Im a little confused...

Im not lecturing, i just think its genuinelytragic how oblivious Westerner's are to the rest of the world ... & this thread and your comment really seemed to back that up. And yes, i say sell Duxford and give all the proceeds to charity...its in the past, the future is far more importent. I agree lessons have to be learned and remembered, but machines of war...

I don't really need you to correct my english either, my A grade at A-Level im guessing shows im far more qualified than you in that dept. But whateva turns you on...

Do you have long hair, a wooly jumper and a desire to march up and down streets all day with signs? Do you think crews of B52s who do their job are 'angels of death' and the aircraft should be dismantled as soon as they've done their job? I do hope you've got rid of all your western luxuries and given all that money to charity.

Think of all the brave men and women who flew and worked with those machines, to just sell them on for the future is to forget all the sacrifice they made. Without major parts in our history being remembered and not allowed to fade away there is no culture, no soul, just a heartless money machine culture, and I can think of nothing worse.

You are so lucky we aren't talking face to face. I really don't know what to say to you, but you are a joke. Go take some more crappy pictures of aeroplanes, enjoy your pointless existence...

Assuming you are being sarcastic Hagar  ;) If you have any higher qualification, you have my respect in the matter ...  But English Language isnt something you can have any deep understanding of simply from 'experience', though you would have had to study it at a fairly high level to know that...  :D

Just to quote you from a few weeks back:

Seriously....who are you to judge how much of a 'waste' someone is??

So going by that, who are you to call someone's existence pointless?

Don't be such a hypocrite. ::)

Exactly how aware of the "rest of the world" should we be and why?  I'd bet I know more about the goings on in Asia than the typical Vietnamese citizen knows about what happens in my home country.  Is the burning of the Cutty Sark important?  In the grand scheme not really.  Is it interesting?  Yes.  Tragic?  Depends on your frame of reference.  If your mother or brother or sister dies you'd probably find that pretty tragic and wouldn't take much solice in the fact that 10,000 people in Africa were slaughtered last year by by angry pigmy elephants.

Yes, I was being sarcastic. I would expect anyone with an A-Level in English Language to be capable of constructing a sentence properly and to make some effort over their spelling, punctuation & grammar. If the paragraph I quoted is an example of your work you wouldn't have passed O-Level English in my day.

Well thats wonderful Hagar. 'spelling, punctuation & grammar', wow, three very big words...im suprised yuor not offered some sort on honorary degree.

Hate this smiley, but im gonna use it anyway.  ::). Yes, things were much better back in the good ol' days.

Don't worry. It's fun to argue. ;D

Totally!! The funny thing is if everyone one here was saying what i was, i would go to the other end of the spectrum and say exactly the same things that they had. I just like things to be considered from all perspectives :D
