All the time I spent around helicopters on the army bases, the biggest worry watching those work around the running ones, was the guys getting various body parts chopped off. The same thought has always been there when I watched the ramp guys working at the airport every day, those 737s are dangerous if your brain isn't switched on 100%. My deepest condolences to his family, the only plus is that it was quick.

She said a mechanic walked in front of the engine and was pulled into it.

The victim's identity wasn't immediately released.

Piecing his identity card back together again...?

I actually have a link to one instance in '91 but I don't know how to upload mpegs, and you have to be a member for access. It happpened twice while I was with VA-145 (A6s) once to one of the cat crew prior to a launch and once to a green shirt (maintenance) back at NAS Whidbey Island. On the flight deck the ones you really had to watch out for were the S3s with the large turbine intakes.

Sorry way to go.

"According to Lloyds in London, working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. On the flight deck it is loud, crowded and the whole atmosphere is often referred to as 'controlled chaos': Jets are catapulted into the air while others are landing, bombs and missiles are transported from the 'bomb farm' to parking aircraft while other planes are taxiing to the catapults or to their parking locations. Even a little mistake can result in an accident: One can be blown off the deck or be sucked into one of the planes' engines. Dangers are everywhere on the flight deck and that is why the people who are working there have to be in perfect physical and mental condition."

If you google to find out what the top ten are it doesn't come up being that it is a military job. Intrestingly, pilots are rated as the number 2 most dangerous job.

;D ;D

Actually the top 4, Logging, Pilot, Highrise Steelworker, and fishermen pretty much fluctuate on the scale depending on which has more fatalities in a given year.

Poison Taster is just above Sim Pilot at number 301. ;D

You mean the guy that got sucked into a jet engine but got caught and survived?

I still think that a poison taster has a more dangerous job than a ramp rat or a fisherman or anything.
