Dont know what the rabbits are like over there...

We tend to have the ocasional "camacazi" rabit.  Ive had 2 this year that did this...You see them in the middle of the road and you hear a thud.  Just figure I ran over them...but no...the little b@st@rds jumped.  Both times i had to wash blood and fur from the grill of my truck :-/

No one knows why they do that but there has been several others report this happening...

I hate the ones that sit at the side of the road, and wait untill you are just too close to stop, or otherwise not hit them, and THEN they try to cross the road. ::) Racoons, squirrells, and birds do it too. This happens so much that I've come up with a theory as to why they do it. You see, animals can't ride skateboards, or go bungey jumping, so they have to do something for an "extreme" sport. I guess car dodging is how they get their kicks.

We have kamikaze pigeons over here.
OK when driving the yaris it is logical that they won't fly away (only thing you hear outside is the cooling fans), but even with the big roaring diesel van they still decide to try to cross the road at the moment you are whitin 2 meters range

Now Crows are the intelligent ones in the Bird population...
They will stand in the middle of the road picking at a squashed Hedgehog/Rabbit/etc...and fly away well before you reach them.... ;D...!
I admire them... 8)...!
LOL...!

As a motorcyclist travelling at night I often get hit on the chest by Owls crossing the road at low level....
...tends to tighten-up the old bum muscles for a while...  ;)... ;D...!

Paul... 8)...!

P.S. Running over any furry/hairy/feathered creature on a bike can be deadly....as in "DEAD".... :'(...!

We used to lighten up car journeys with a game of rabbit cricket.

Rules:
Split car into two teams Left and Right.
Decide which side is going to bat.
Decide how many batters for an innings and how many innings.

The side batting has to count LIVE rabbits.
Scoring 1=1, groups of 2-4=4, groups over 4=6

The side bowling has to look out for road pizza, ergo squashed wildlife on the road surface as soon as spotted one batter is out. If the vehicle should hit any live wildlife during an innings then that is the whole side out.

Continue batting till all batters out and swap roles.

It certainly made things more interesting on journeys down country lanes.
