What in th'wide, wide world o'sports are you fellers talkin' about?
Ashes?
???
;D

Why, cricket of course. :P

The Ashes of English cricket. A ceremony held the first time those darned Aussies beat the heck out of us. >:( That was back in the year dot but they've been doing it regularly ever since. They burned the stumps ball & someone put the ashes in a little cup. That's how the story goes anyway. It's been like WWIII ever since. This is the first time we got them back in something like 18 years. ;D

"In affectionate remembrance of English cricket which died at The Oval, 29th August, 1882. Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing friends and acquaintances, RIP. NB The body will be cremated and the Ashes taken to Australia."

Hi Rom...!

It's a bit like American Baseball, except that it is played by "Chaps" who run up and down the field, instead of round and round, after hitting the ball with a wooden stick...
...apparantly...

LOL...!

Paul....it's all seems very strange to me... ;)... ;D...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

That makes more sense to me than 22 fully grown men chasing an inflated bladder all over the field & kicking the heck out of each other. ??? Either that or kissing the one that scores a goal. :-/ This only happens rarely & often by accident. ;D

I've seen it played and I was totally lost. But being American, I guess that sort of figures.  ::)

I asked a British friend once to explain Cricket and he said it couldn't be done...lol....not sure what he meant by that.... ;D

Thanks for the brief lesson..... ;D

I'm afraid that any form of "Sport" involves expending an excessive, un-necessary, amount of energy, and always leave me in a state of complete exhaustion, just observing it... :o...!

LOL... ;)... ;D...!

Paul...just been watching a game of "Bowls" on the tele'....
....must have a lie down now... :-[...!

Here in the USA we call them armchair quarterbacks. My dad was an all pro armchair quarterback and could jump around and scream obscenities with the best of them.... ;D

Never could figure that out. Screaming at the TV as if they could hear him and even if they could. As if they'd give a rats butt what he had to say.... ;D

Each to his own I say. Most people think my obsession with flying is pretty strange. Hmmm, most people think I'm weird altogether. Come to think of it they're probably right. :o I don't care what other people think. ;D
