What are you talking about a Cricket game or a chicken game  ??? ::) :P who was the first the egg or the chicken???  ;D

Yoking again, ALROT?
The beating of wings, the ruffling of feathers and the crickets get pecked to death ;)

Cricket ... ...the game you yanks took mutilated then gave your players oversized sissy gloves to help with catching the ball. ::) ;) ;D

That's so that they'd have only one hand to scratch you-know-where :-[. That big glove helps remind the player which ball he's supposed to be catching hold of ;).

...unlike the "Stumper" in Cricket....he wears a a big glove on each hand..............presumably he knows which ball to catch hold of.........commoner ;)

Hi Woodpecker. We have nothing against Aussies. In fact we quite like you but this changes when it comes to cricket. The Ashes series is treated more like WWIII by both teams. Unfortunately you Aussies usually win. >:( ;)

PS. My prediction came true. It ended up a draw & the weather played its part. I haven't watched any of it this season but from all accounts it's been a great series so far.

What's David Campese got against England?

We've got no problem with Oz, its just good to have friendly banter whenever the Ashes come around, or we play the Wallabies. Naturally we like to win every now and then, and to quote French footballer Frank Leboef...

We won the world cup

...for once... ;) ;D

A lovely English traditional sport. My uncle plays in a team in Dorchester in Oxfordshire.

I was thrilled to see England do so well. I am a bit unsure now though where the game stands. What is the third test up to? The Aussies aren't out yet are they? ???

Ended in a draw, so the series is tied still at 1-1. Shame that saturday was rained out really.

Last time I checked Dorchester was in Dorset, about 5 miles north of Weymouth? :) ;D

I'll express my ignorance of cricket, but how come when England had far more runs than Australia? ???

Oh and Dorchester is where I went to school and is a beautiful traditional english village. My Uncle doesn't play for anything special, not anything that would get in the news anyway. Though he seems to have a nice array of trophies. I guess it is just a more local lower level of cricket. :)

Australia batted all the way through to Monday evening with one wicket left, so it was a draw. Shame about the typical English weather on Saturday, we should have had them!

Another sneaky double place name eh? A bit like Boston and New York - I always thought they were places in Lincolnshire, but it turns out they're the names of a couple of towns in the US too! ;) :) ;D

Yeah, here's a map. Remember it is a small village and Oxford is a big city. I should really have called it Dorchester-on-Thames - that's its full name I guess. ;)

Ah yes, that puts it in its place. :) Nice, one way you're in Oxford, the other you get to Henley. ;D

A couple towns ???
Each U.S. "state" has its own constitution: it's more like 50 united little countries (OK, some aren't so little). Of those of the 48 continental contingent, about 16 have a "Boston" and New Hampshire has a New Boston (not far north-northeast of JBaymore's locale), along with variants of the name elsewhere (and that's just the United States :P). Each state also has its 'counties', which are approximately equivelent to shires, and sometimes names have been changed in one or the other to eradicate the same name confusion (NH could have two Rumneys -- there's one in Grafton County and, in Merrimack County, it was the former name of NH's capitol, Concord).
Of the 48 states referenced, all are plagued by noisy cricket games -- outdoors at night and even in basements and garages during the day..... chirp, chirp chirp ;D 8)
[as I now head for cover]...

I noticed a lot of familiar place names during my little drive up the East coast of the US a few years ago. I assume that many of the original settlers came from around these here parts. There's a town named Portsmouth & Southampton County in Virginia. http://www.southamptoncounty.org/history.asp
The latter was originally part of Isle of Wight County although this is not an island.

There's also a Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, NY. Imagine my surprise when I watched the Neil Simon film. ;)
