My girlfriend and I went to 2 movies while she was here.  One ended up just being the 2 of us in the entire place :o  Screw the movie lol ::)  Other time there was several other friends with us.  Once again...No outsiders in the place.  But I pay for the 2 of us to get in plus food.

Tickets $5.75 x2
Drinks  $6.50
Food    $10+

Total usualy is around $40 :-/

Seems rediculous to me why its so high.  Now I get Pay Per View and about a dozen movie channels.  So no need to go to the movies when its right here shortly after ;)  Besides, most of the movies lately havent been that great anyhow :-/

The experience is no different here on base. On some occations, I might see a few youngsters skateboarding down the isle. :-/

I like sitting on the far, rear corner of the theater. For some reason, it's always quiet there and the few people that are near me are well mannered.

i think, when one or two or three people rather than one, experience something, its more of a charge....with hundreds, i think the experience is highly increased. especially with the enhanced media..that could be the attraction for movie goers. i only go to the most outstanding films for this reason. other than that, i don't watch movies and would rather work on my 8 foot model of the hms. royal william... :)

I don't go anymore as they always seem to be badly dubbed into Hungarian, and then there are the annoying pillocks talking, swearing etc.
If the wife and I want to watch something we've got a DVD player, a video recorder, and the PC is hooked up to the TV as well!
Oh and we have a proper popcorn making machine ;D ;D ;D

I remember when there were still quite a few movie "palaces"...theaters for enjoying cinema, not boxes for "watching the big TV"... yep (smacks gums and rattles cane), goin' to the movies was an event back then!!
People sat quiet and watched the movie, and only made out in the balcony or the back row... ;D
I rarely go to the local Gigantiplex, unless it's something I really want to catch on the big screen with full theatrical sound and it's a matinee or some other off-peak time. Other than that, maybe an "art house" in the city where tickets are cheaper and people are more considerate.
All we've got left around here is the Ziegfeld in New York and the State Theater in Jersey City, but they rarely screen anything I want to see. Last thing I saw at the newly-restored Ziegfeld was a restored print of "Vertigo"... that was an event!! :)

Precisely the point I was trying to make. People went to the cinema either to watch the film or have a cuddle in the back row - mostly quietly & considerately. Remember usherettes? Sometimes formidable ladies with torches to actually show you to your seat. Any nonsense & a flash of the torch was enough to keep most troublemakers quiet. If they continued misbehaving they would be thrown out by the manager in person, to the cheers & applause of the other customers. Hooray & good riddance.

Too many alternatives now & society itself has changed, not for the better. IMHO

An interesting side note to this...

The wifey and I decided to take the twins to see The Wiggles live here at the Allstate Arena.
