I dont live in the UK, but I'm pretty certain that you can get a pellet/BB gun pretty easily there. Might I suggest an air powered pump (as opposed to the spring powered "Red Rider" variety), a Crossman if they are available, you won't be dissapointed.

The laws in Britain on buying and owning weapons are v.tight compared with most countries. Craig just ask someone to lend you an air rifle ;)

If you're over 18 you shouldn't have any trouble getting an air weapon. But my advice is still the 12 bore. ;D

I also don't know the rules in the UK, but stateside, it's generally frowned upon (criminally) to discharge a firearm within a certain distance to a residential structure.  So shooting anything in your backyard would probably be a bad idea.

Easiest solution:  Take away his food source.  He'll go away quite quickly, and you won't have to hire an attorney.

as far as an air pistol is concerned no problem my garden is very much blocked off to the outside world, huge trees at the back and its on a steep hill so the hous to the left is too low to see in and to the right more large trees so privacy is no problem. I might go to the local gun store and see how to go about getting a decent air pistol, my exactly legal rights and so on.

You could always contact the council pest control department & let them deal with it.

Pest Control - Domestic Premises

We provide a FREE service to treat for rats, bed-bugs and cockroaches in occupied domestic properties.

We also supply mouse poison free of charge to any Birmingham residents to self-treat for any mice problems they may have. This is available free from the City Council's Neighbourhood Offices and Regulatory Services District Offices.

If they can do it poison and lethal trap free then i will give them a call. Problem is with a puppy and adult dog who roam free in the garden we cant leave poison or dangerous traps out. Although our border collie has had a few attempts to catch the thing, hes just a little to fat and slow to be of any help :)
