A long time ago (during WWII) some Aviators flew through Thunderstorms to try to solve the problems that they caused with radios.  That was where the wicks came from.  The plane was a B-17 flying fortress, and had an interesting name...Two Kind Words.

The name came from an arguement two of the crewmembers had and one said to the other (in place of F***k you) "I have only one thing to say to you: two kind words"

They flew it in different types of foul weather.  In the end, the army bulldozed it into scrap.  As Bob Buck puts it "a miserable ending for such a fine lady..."
